My nephew and all of his friends ate all of the last groceries I bought. I bought sodas before I left last week I and they were all gone. One night I had one soda left and was saving a it for the next morning and his girlfriend drank it. I came home this week to also discover his girlfriend used all of my soap and shaving cream, used two of my razors, and had taken my shampoo+conditioner to his bathroom. My toothbrush was even missing. I said something about it and my toothbrush showed back up in the bathroom this morning lol.....what the hell?
I feel like I'm living g in a dorm. Anyway, I don't really want to spend the money buying more groceries for a bunch of bumming pot heads with no jobs.

How long until you move out?
06-28-2017 , 09:55 AM
I'm submitting my application for a nice duplex today and they said I can move in on Saturday. The only hang up is that they want to talk to my previous crazy landlords. I also still haven't received my $900 deposit back from them and got some txt last week about how they need to make decisions on repairs and replacements. There is literally nothing to repair or replace that I'm responsible for!

Has it been 30 days since you've moved out? As I understand it, Texas law requires the security deposit to be returned within 30 days (along with an itemized list of deductions of anything was withheld).

The 30th will be 30days.

Heck yeah, I can get 3x the deposit+$100 if they don't return it and I sue them.

You made holes in the walls which you weren't allowed to do, you'll likely not get your deposit back

Lol, I of course filled in those holes and painted. They were 1/8" lol

I leave for two weeks and come back to see that not much has changed other than M sharing her toothbrush with several strangers

M,

100% execute some pranks before you leave for when they steal your stuff. Make sure you video the setup so later they can see what they were really eating/drinking/using!
06-28-2017 , 12:44 PM
And send the past landlords a text letting them know that if they don't get you your deposit by the 30th you will be going for 3x +100 and they can take that to the bank.

That being said, moving out without doing a walk-through with them and hammering out the deposit return on the spot was pretty dumb.

M,

You should definitely look up Texas law on rental security deposit before doing that. In some states, if they don't follow proper notification procedure within the deadline, you automatically get your deposit back plus a penalty, even if there were legit damages etc.

Right, 27's advice is terrible. The one thing you need to do is make sure you give them written notice of your new address. So what I would do is, on day 30, send them an email that says, "Just a reminder that you can send the security deposit to NEW ADDRESS."

If you've described them accurately, they will almost certainly reveal in their response that they are willfully and unlawfully withholding your security deposit. Once you have that response, easy game to 3 times damages.

I'll do this, thanks!

Lolol doing some pranks sounds fun. I bet my sister would even get in on it. She's beyond frustrated with the situation, even though it is partially her fault for allowing it.

06-28-2017 , 04:15 PM

06-28-2017 , 07:24 PM
MLYLT,

How about 7 days worth of real, unedited, accurate calorie logs starting tomorrow?
06-28-2017 , 08:14 PM
Mmmm.... strawberry salad with raspberry vinergarette
06-28-2017 , 09:12 PM
That's a much better dressing, please no more donk dressings.
06-28-2017 , 09:44 PM
That's a lot of dressing.
06-28-2017 , 10:18 PM
That's what I was thinking. Especially for a salad with so little lettuce. But still, looks yum!
