At least Soulman's extensive dance training makes his flailing more pleasant and artistic to behold.

Defending cals/portion size over cals/100 g is a very Monte thing to do. It's not like people get confused over that.

ETA: "training" might be overdoing it.

Awesome quote from the Quest site:

Doesn't almost everything come in 100g and 1 serving now?

You can lock this thread with your awesome mod pwrs Aidan!

Also, on fiber and cals: http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/nut...es-broom.html/

Quote:
Above I discussed the issue of fermentation of some types of fiber to short-chain fatty acids which are then reabsorbed by the body. Well, those fatty acids provide calories to the body. While there is still some debate in the area, researchers have assigned a caloric value to fiber of 1.5-2 cal/gram (depending on the specific type).

Admittedly this is an average and will depend on the specifics of the diet and the type of fiber but, simply, the idea that fiber provides no calories to the body is not true. While the caloric value of fiber is still lower than starchy carbohydrates (4 cal/g), it is not zero.
Apparently the fibers used by Quest/others, IMOs/corn fiber, has debatable calorie content, couldn't find any solid links off-hand though. If someone feels like googling up a storm that'd be nice. It seems unlikely that calorie content should be actual zero for that type of fiber though, adding 30-50 cals per 100g to the listed content.

That would make way too much sense for the US, can't be real. Total fake news.

So let it be said, so let it be done. Someone knock together a new one, I'm off to bed. Hopefully this doesnt ruin a riveting conversation!

For some things, calories per 100 g is a more useful heuristic, and for other things, calories per portion is more relevant (typically when the portion size is one). Soulman neckbearding over the difference and picking quite possibly the worst possible example to support his point isn't all that shocking, I suppose.
