How far? I like biking, recently hit 2000km since I bought it a year ago. Mostly commuting though.

In my readings about recovery from significant brain injury, a comically disproportionate amount of the stories begin with a bike ride. Sometimes they even recover enough to go on a second bike ride, which starts the whole process over again.

I wanted to write an entire paragraph on how to win at bike riding in China but I don't want to jinx myself, and this way you also don't have to read it

They were all wearing helmets! I assume the non-helmets just died.

The first time I crashed a bike, my front wheel went into a crack and I went over the handlebars. I landed on my face, although pretty much unscathed aside from cutting open my jaw. The bike stayed standing upright in the crack. Somehow, I pulled the seat off with me.

I went to the ER to get my face stitched up. The doctor gave me so much ****.

"Why weren't you wearing a helmet?" (I was)
"Why were you riding after dark?" (I wasn't, I've been waiting here 2 or 3 hours so it's dark now)
"Why did you ride into a crack?" (It wasn't on purpose?)
