The last one is at knee height just about. I'm not going any deeper without improving mobility, so it doesn't really matter I guess.

Re: Kidcolin's log: back to basics (plus neck harness)

Some reps looks high and some look borderline to me, from that angle anyway.

I think they'd probably all pass in a PL meet, as I'm convinced that the powerlifting community doesn't even know what parallel is anyway, by definition.

Parallel is when your handler finishes yelling 'back!' for the 4th time.

Re: Kidcolin's log: back to basics (plus neck harness)

Cycle 5 starts today. Works out so the deload is the week leading up to the meet.
Squat:
295x5
345x5
395x5

Was supposed to be 385 but I threw 10s on by mistake. Set was hard and I saw some stars, but not too surprising. Didn't sleep well last night, slept on a futon all weekend and didn't eat a lot, and hadn't trained in a week. I also went into this session with a nasty migraine.

I have some vids for depth check I'll post later. I just hit parallel. Def a mobility issue I need to fix (ankles and hips I imagine). Any more depth would require a pretty compromising position.

Re: Kidcolin's log: back to basics (plus neck harness)

too lazy to upload vids right now. Here's a screen shot from the 345 set. Like I said, just hitting parallel. Little hard to see my hip crease due to the lighting and my dark clothes. I was a bit shallow on some of the 295 reps and I think I got a bit deeper on some 395 set, and even then I felt a bit too loose in the hole. Depth for the sake of depth is lame and dangerous. Need to mob.

On the other hand, my elbow positioning is ****ing money.

Re: Kidcolin's log: back to basics (plus neck harness)

I would have to get out my protractor, but that looks pretty parallel.

kidcolin as a guy whos pretty far along the lifting road, how do you feel when you play sport? do other people just bounce off you or what? hows your vert / general agility? etc

Re: Kidcolin's log: back to basics (plus neck harness)

i haven't really played sports. I played hoops last season with gary stevenson and bobbo. It's hard to say because it had been so long since I played and I was completely deconditioned. By the far the worst conditioning on the team.

I used to be a PG in HS, and I was playing the 4/5 in this league and checking the other team's big man most the time at a major height disadvantage. My strength was a big advantage and I boxed out well and kept guys from getting deep on me. GKA compared me to Chucky Hayes, which is about the highest compliment you can pay someone.

As for vert/agiliity/etc... vert def down due to being a fat ass. Agility feels fine. Nothing wrong mechanically with my shot or anything. I don't feel muscle bound if that's what you're asking.

I plan on dieting and getting in decent shape after my meet at the end of the month. Of course I've sang that tune before and never followed through, but I really need to make it happen. Once I'm at decent bf% and conditioning levels I'll have a better answer for you.

Re: Kidcolin's log: back to basics (plus neck harness)

3/7 (cycle 5, 5 week)
Bench:
135x5
155x5
175x8

Easy. Didn't push it. Shoulders/arms started acting up again, but it's way less worse than it was 2-3 weeks ago. I have an MRI tomorrow. Does contrast dye hurt? I've had one MRI before but I don't remember it being used.

Did some DB rows afterwards. Nothing noteworthy.
