The meet up went great. He was so nice and friendly. Also younger and with a bigger built than his photos suggest.
First he told me to take my chuck taylors off(!). I did everything in socks. He assessed my mobility, flexibility and strength, then we did an initial workout.
Spent a LONG time learning proper form for a squat; feet, knees, back, core etc. then we did it with a plate but I don't know how heavy.
I also learned how to do a dead lift! Glute bridges, some other stuff, then he told me to do a push-up.
Um, I can't!
I showed him anyway, not quite doing one. He said that we don't do girly push-ups and my first goal is to do some real push-ups. He also said push-ups were more about core than shoulders/arms so we'd be focusing on my core. Then I did a **** load of push-ups but instead of doing it against the floor, it was against a low bar, about a foot off the floor. I did a lot. Maybe 5 sets of 8.
I did other shiat too.
