I took Diablo's advice and went to the hospital last night and I'm glad I did. I added a little distraction for both sis and bf until it was time for lights out.

Advanced diabetes, liver disease, kidney disease and not taking care of himself for a long time, all coming to a head. The immediate concern is his kidneys aren't functioning so he gets dialysis. Dialysis lowers his blood pressure and he has a small stroke. Rinse and repeat every time he has dialysis. He's also very depressed.

He's also a great guy.

Anyway....

Yesterday was unusual in that I had no food packed except a banana. That being said, I didn't do too badly except for the fact that I didn't plan any meals. That is not the key to success and I know it. I'll post my meals via mfp snapshots after this post. So eating out for breakfast, lunch and dinner, here is how I did.

Calories 1173
Protein 66g
Fat 44g
Carbs 140g <--- holy shiat

Breakfast was via dunkin: 170 cal ham egg and cheese wakeup wrap w banana and coffee

Lunch was a free one, CPAs meeting for end of fiscal year. grilled chicken with greek salad, dressing on the side. I logged in 2 tbs but doubt i used that much.

dinner was at Be Good, near the hosp. I got takeout for sis and i. I had a burger topped with guacamole and salsa with a side of veggies, that I think were steamed then barely grilled. Barely cooked, seemed to raw to me. I thought to snap a pic when i was almost done with the burger so it isn't pretty, what with the guac on it and all, but I love how they do it in a little bowl instead of a bun if you ask, so I'll post the pic anyway.

Snack - a cold brew and a piece of dark chocolate. Why the chocolate? It was offered to me and I didn't want to be rude. Yeah, I'm using that as an excuse. I mean it WAS offered to me but no one would've died if I declined.

Sooooo let's talk about exercise or lack thereof. I worked out Sun, Mon, Tues. No workout Wednesday or Thursday and here we are on Friday.

Poker or work out tonight? If my buddy is playing tonight then I'll be playing too. Either way it's going to be a monster workout whether it's tonight or in the morning.

Pics to follow!

Did not play poker. Got changed to go to the gym, laid down for a minute to read and when I woke up 2 hrs had passed. Grrrr missed both. I ate a snack and went back to bed.

Saturday:
I had a birthday party to go to at noon...50th bday party of a girl I grew up with. I got up early and hit the gym! Finally! I felt great and had a great workout; both upper and lower body. I've been reading about knees and read that strengthening your glute muscles helps your knees, so a couple of glute exercises were added to the routine.

I also revisited the farmer's walk. I did it with a mere 20lbs, (2) 10 lb plates, which felt like practically nothing until the 4th length. I did 4 lengths of the gym, 3 times. I'll stick w 20lbs for a couple more walks just to be safe, then bump back to 50lbs. Haven't found anything between the 2.

So, went to the birthday party and got molested. Seriously, yet sorta. Most action I've had in a while. Lemme splain.

My friend had lots of family at her party which I obv didn't know, one being her mentally challenged cousin, Dana. Danas about 25 years old and sang the Barny song to my friend as a gift. Pretty mentally challenged. I don't know her and never spoke a word to her.

I was sitting at a long table w friends, didn't realize anyone was behind me...she came up behind me, put her arms around me and grabbed both of my tits, squeezed and held on.

We stayed like this for a couple of seconds while my brain processed someone's squeezing my tits hard and who the **** is it?

I grabbed one hard with mine ripped it off, turned around about to strike and there she was. She still wouldn't let go of me. I didn't know what to do. In the end I pulled her hands off the boobs and let them remain above so she was then hugging around my shoulders. We stayed that way for a couple minutes....I couldn't take it any more and just stood up. It was weird. Of course all my friends were dying laughing and spent the rest of the party sneaking up behind me with a fake boob grab. Friends...

I've been out of apples for a couple days, but not anymore! I hit the grocery store after the party so I'm stocked w food again.

I made lettuce wraps filled w ground turkey, veggies and topped w a little blue cheese crumble. So good and I did take a pic. It might follow.

You're not going to find anything between 10 and 25 lbs unless they happen to have 15 lb. bumper plates which would be in the snatch or clean area.

You can always buy apple slices at McDonalds. 50 cents each and can be turned into apple sauce.

Yeah I think when I use the 50lbs I'll just start with short distances. Also they do have kettle bells but the get snatched up quickly.

Nope, can't buy apple slices at McDonalds cuz I will not go there. I prefer my food real.

I mean i love eggs. I love chili. And I love meals that are filling and reasonable calories for everyday choices.

My calorie budget is high because of 6-7 hours of weekly exercise and a breakfast like this is not only tasty but I can go berserk at night.

10/10 breakfast!!!

Woo hoo! An orgasm breakfast and a 10/10. I'll take it!

It was Rest Day as far as weights go.

I did 45 min on treadmill 3.5 incline, 3.0 miles per hr.
Farmers walk 6 lengths at once w 20 lbs. (2) lengths w 50lbs x 2. I felt fine. Knee felt good, worked on getting a good solid grip.
Swam 10 laps. Older Asian guy in the lane next to me told me he always swims 20 laps, so I need to up my game. Then he slyly added "when I was your age I swam a hundred laps regularly."

My reply: "I'm older than I look." Lol

Soooooo last week was meh.
Protein low, ate out a lot, missed gym a couple (3) days in a row, didn't cook much. I can do better than that.

Goals for this week:
Up the protein either by food or shakes/bars breaking 110 grams consistently would be a realistic improvement.
Read more about knee issues
Try the squat machine in the gym. I took a pic of it. I think using this machine might get my legs ready for squatting? I took a pic, let me know if that's a good idea or if I'd just be straining my knee.
Work on chin up.
Get in touch with that trainer guy.
Up the weights and push myself. I'm feeling strong.

Josie,

Great breakfast.

If you're looking for another idea after you're done with your chili, I've been doing scrambled egg whites (with a whole egg or two added) plus the frijoles charro from the recipe I posted in the recipe thread -- eggs + something hearty is always a great start to the day!

Josie,

I'm just curious, did you go gung ho right from the start of your weight loss? I remember you saying something about cutting out bread, pasta, rice and pizza but were you also super strict with calories or did you gradually reduce them?

Gradually reduced calories, starting by just not binging. Resisting that urge was the first step. Then not having carbs I liked around helped. Quitting diet soda...which was my binge companion. Personally I started w changing these behaviors and weight came off. When it slowed I started tracking w mfp still wasn't too concerned about calories, more about eating as much fruits veggies fish lean meats and cheese until satisfied and still lost weight. Back then I could eat peanut butter and lose for the week. If I eat much pb now I'll maintain.
