I feel like I'm probably doing a sorta half assed version of intermitent fasting. Mostly because my fat ass uses up my daily calories about 8-10 hours into the day and I just don't eat until I go to bed.

Not to get you down, but you prob need to get down to roughly 190-200 to lose most of your gut.

Re: Jeffawesome's Awesomelog

I'm totally down. I finally feel like I'm in control of my weight. Yesterday was weird. I was at a place with not a good spread of food for what would be considered weightloss. Basically I had a decent meal of chicken and sausage and veggies but also some cookies. I stayed within or a little over my calories, but I felt guilty. I was almost scared to weigh myself when I woke up. I lost a pound. Pretty weird feeling for me honestly. I can eat awful foods just so long as I don't go crazy with the calories I'll be fine. I know you're all looking at me like I'm a total moron and in some aspects I am but it's similar to what YTF experienced.

Re: Jeffawesome's Awesomelog

I'm a moron at loading plates!

Squats were supposed to be 250x6 but I loaded two 45's a 10 and a 2.5 on one side and two 45's a 5 and a 2.5 on the other. So I did 245x6. Then I did two lower sets.

Then i overloaded my bench instead of a 45 a 5 and a 2.5 I did a 45 a 10 and a 2.5 got three reps. Ugh. Did my actual work set and did just great!!!

squats 1x6x245 1x7x225 1x8x215
bench 1x3x160 1x5x150 1x6x140 1x7x135

Sick muscle confusion, brah!

I'm kinda bummed to read that I'll likely still have a gut at 190. Guess we will have to just keep losing weight and assessing. My gut is noticeably smaller, so I can see progress.

Congrats on the weight loss.

Re: Jeffawesome's Awesomelog

If your goal is to look like you don't have a gut at 250 AND get stronger, realize you have a marathon ahead of you. I know it sucks a bit, but taking enjoyment in the process (and how couldn't you feel happy about losing e.g. 20 lbs?) is a big deal.

I'd heartily recommend taking diet breaks every 8-12 weeks. This has a number of positive effects, not the least of which is psychological. Eat at (your new) maintenance for a couple of weeks.

Jeff,
awesome (heh) that you're learning. Don't get discouraged when you fail to lose a lbs a day though, you're still in the initial phase. 2 lbs a week will probably be your average once things settle down. And yes, there's absolutely room to eat some crap when dieting too if done intelligently.

I know it'll slow down. Probably tomorrow. I will definitely take breaks, and I'm sure it will take a long long time to get to where I want to be.

Re: Jeffawesome's Awesomelog

Well I went back home for two days and the diet in my eyes was followed reasonably well. I'm not going to say I was perfect because I wasn't but one day I was 800 calories below my max and I gained 1.4 lbs back. Kinda annoying but whatever. Really unmotivated to go to the gym. Bleh.
