I'm actually getting around to finishing the starting strength book. I was interested in resting between sets. I've always read don't let your warm ups interfere with your work sets, well I was taking this meaning I shouldn't rest between my last warm up and my first work set. Well I'm dumb. The main reason I got 245 last time was my rest periods were longer.

cliffs: reading comprehension ftw

Well hit the gym today with mixed results. Really focused on taking adequate rest between squat sets and it worked for me, because I got all my reps @250 which is a pr for me. Moved onto bench and that sucked. Went for 160 and I didn't attempt a fourth rep (no spotter). Did last two sets at 145 and 135. Had a bit of the same headache I got last time I worked out so didn't try to kill myself. I was spent after the squats and bench so Deadlift obviously suffered. I couldn't get the third rep up on 295. Wim was nonexistent and I should've only done a 5lb jump instead of ten. Oh well. I'll post videos soon.

Squats 3x5x250 (pr!)
Bench fail @160
Deadlift fail @295

Also some douche left 225 on the smith machine so I did a rep. So easy it was laughable.

Second video it looks like I'm dipping to the left. I don't think this is actually the case as I focused on staying tight with my knees out.

Sleep has been way ****ed up with my new shift and parents visiting. Hoping to hit the gym tomorrow. What should I do if the headaches from pressing continue? I think I might need to get into cardiovascular shape? It seems that the headaches come from high blood pressure from squats. But I've always read that the workout order is that way for a reason. Help?

Feel free to do pressing movements first. Just not on days you're both squatting and DLing. Take some ibuprofen before lifting? Dunno.

Ive gotten headaches from squatting before. I resolved them by just breathing more deeply before & during sets. Not sure if it was related, but I don't get them anymore.

what HS said...I used to get sharp pain headaches in the middle of lifting, but it was just related to not breathing right.

Didn't make it to the gym today. Been a real lug lately with the new shift and the family visiting. I'll try to go on saturday but it depends on when I wake up. Sunday for sure.

It's been ten days since I've been to the gym. These are excuses but I've had a ton of family over, started a new shift and had those headaches. I'm really gonna stick to three times a week no matter what, no more bs excuses. On the note of going today, should I go up 5lbs on my squats or keep them the same as last time.

If it's good enough for hs it's good enough for me. Also I'm supposed to reset my press after failing 120 three times. Spenda has mentioned that doing so would be sort of useless. Should I just try 120 again seeing as though I think I can complete it, if I can avoid the dreaded press headache.

Meh 2+2 was down and I was registered with a million year old hotmail account so I had to make this new screename. 2+2 definitely takes itself way too seriously.

On the workout front, I left you guys after being off for a week. I went to do squats and barely squeeked out 5 reps at 250. Went down to 225 and just grinded them out. This was the 26th of April. I tried to press at 120, not happening, so I did 105. Then I got lazy/busy and took another week off. Did my squats at 235 and they were grindy but okay. Bench was down to 145 and deadlift felt good at 275. Really shouldn't have taken so much time off, and I'm really annoyed with myself for doing so. Anyway, went on Tuesday the 8th and did squats at 240 and kroc rows. Thursday I did squats at 245 and failed at bench at 150 which is just embarrassing. I didn't attempt deadlifts because my back was hurting a bit even loading the bar. I'm going to do a set of squats later. Only squats today because I got two warts removed (gross right?!) from my left hand. So yeah that's it. I'm a fat weaking with no dedication.

Oh, and you can't spell (weakling/weaking) I skipped a week too, then tweaked my back. Prob have to start back at 200 after peaking at 285 a month ago. Squats are ghey.

Bet you can get your bench on the move again if you start doing some pullups. Since starting (bastardized version of) Greyskull, my bench is feeling awesome again after some stagnation. So freaky that upper back work is such a great assistance exercise.

I'm really annoyed with 2+2 and not letting me have my old screename back, do they really think someone is trying to be me?

Wife has started working out since having the little guy. Since I can't go with her I had her do some light dumbell ohpresses and she likes it. I can't wait till we can go together but that probably won't be for a long time. She really wants to do barbell work but is too scared to do it alone without help.

Meant assisted pull up, rather. Or assisted chins (more fun IMO). Yeah, I'm not busting em out without machine help lol. I can do a whopping 2 chins though

I have an assisted chin up machine at the farther gym. I'll try and use it soon.

I have to start eating less apparently. I'm still huge, and the wife has been cooking almost every meal we eat. For dinner we eat whole foods, nothing processed at all. Maybe I can clean up some little things, but I sorta feel like unless I starve myself I'm meant to be 255lbs.

Calories in, calories out, is unfortunately the primary rule.

Vids are private as well, but your squat stance may be a little wide.
