It's amazing how many excuses I can create to avoid KB training even though I actually enjoy once I start. Wish I had that kind of creativity in my guitar playing and writing.

I'm going to try to hike one of my old training loops 1x/week this month to start getting some longer exercise periods in and also for the elevation training. It's 4.4 miles with 1800' of elevation gain over 2 summits.

After this month I'll switch to doing it 1x/month until October as it's a good way to gauge my overall conditioning.

It will take me somewhere around 2+ hours in my current shape, but by October I'm thinking to shoot for a goal of sub 66 minutes.

Low on calories (appetite seems to be dropping) and a bit low on protein for the week. But overall I'm now basically dead on target for my calories and protein goals over the first 9 weeks.

Dropped about 3 pounds within 2 days in the middle of last week. I figured dehydration or something, but it stayed off since then so I guess it's real.

Great effort! How does it work for you, do you just lose your appetite when you go on this regime, or are you hungry all the time? Granted the high protein intake is going to help a lot........

This time when I started I was pretty hungry even on the days around 2000 calories. Lately I've not had many issues with being hungry, only sometimes getting cravings to snack in the evening.

But even when I'm off the reservation -- eating who knows how many daily calories -- those cravings in the evening are still there, so it's likely not a hunger issue and more a mental thing. Especially if I get pissed off or stressed out I catch myself wanting to snack and have to smack down the urge.

Other than that, I've felt satiated for a while at ~ 1800 calories and recently have had some days come in ~ 1600 without any hunger issues at all. Maybe it's the high protein or maybe I'm a sugar/carb fiend and have that out of my system -- or a combo of both.

Jogged 3 miles on easy trail then walked 0.5 miles to cool down.

Felt good enough to jog further but for a few weeks will likely keep my longest jogs to 3 miles max. A couple times over the next few weeks I might also try to run 1.5 miles at a harder pace and then walk back. My pace right now is super slow, like 11 or 12 minute miles.

Jogged 1.5 miles on easy trail at somewhere around 9 minute mile pace. Walked back same 1.5 miles.

If I can get a paper finished tonight for my stats class I'm going to get my first crack at the training loop hike tomorrow morning. It's supposed to be an awesome morning for hiking, about 45 degrees and bright sun warming to about 55 by the time I'm done.

Got one last day of skiing in up on Mount Washington. We drove up to the summit and skied the east snowfields. 5 runs with 500' of elevation drop each so 2500' of elevation gain climbing the bootpack between runs. (i.e. - hiking up steep snow.)

m
