Yup, it was lat. I rested everything for two whole weeks and all seemed good. I guess I just strained/pulled it pretty bad?

Push press is timing, keep at it and it will get there. There are plenty of days I go in and the timing is all wrong, just the way it goes, lol. But when it's on, oh is it on.

Close Grip Bench - up to a couple sets of 6 with 315
Laterals
Snatch Grip High Pulls - 2 sets went fine, 3rd set did not

I was still taking it easy after competing last weekend, and pulling on Monday, so I figured I'd be lazy and lay down to press. Since I haven't benched in about a decade due to my shoulders, I kept it really light and just did a couple sets. Shoulders felt ok, but not something I'm gonna push.

For the second time in a month, I've managed to tear/strain/pull something. I have no bruising or blood yet, but I think it's probably coming with this one. On my third set of high pulls, first rep, I lowered the weight from hips to knees and felt a rip in my outer hip, right where the bone is. Lower oblique? Hell I don't know. It was enough to put me on the ground though. *sigh* I'll give it the weekend to see if it improves, if not I'm thinking some ART starting next week at a minimum.

I just think my time is better spent doing something else, as opposed to lying down and pressing. Like standing up and pressing, for instance.

I could bench 4+ right now, I'm sure, and I just don't see the benefit (for me) of getting a bigger bench. So I don't do them. Yesterday's workout was just for the fun of it and sort of a test to my shoulders with semi-light weight. So in my serious programming, benching is never included.

thanks busto, I think part of my problem is that I trained heavy and put on a bunch of weight and gave no consideration to flexibility and the like. I think I might start trying to do like 15 minutes of yoga every night or something.

Its sick. Infinitely better than yoga as its designed with a focus toward mobility work for athletes rather than for people looking to suck their own dick. (IE favoring lumbar stability rather than mobility)

lol, what thremp said I guess. I only have MM, only do exercises from that as warm-ups. Definitely helped get my mobility up to basic levels needed for the big compounds and helped with recovery.

Thanks for the recommendation guys. I watched about 1/2 of the DVD last night, will watch the rest today, put it all together, and add that stuff in daily.

Don't pay attention to thremp. He is just bitter he spent 6 months of yoga stretching to achieve self-fellAtion and still came up short. Although in his defense his main shortcoming was not back flexibility.

The introduction of a foam roller and basic warmup / corrective exercises are very responsible for my modest strength levels. It keeps me under the bar and mostly healthy. I highly recommend them.

My problem is I know this, and still have a hard time forcing myself to do it. I've been rolling, but probably not with the regularity that I should be.
