June goals:
[x] Ride bike to work 2x/week. Bought a very visible biking shirt. Wife said, "Hey you look like one of those douchebags."
[x] PRs in squat/DL/BP I seem to be back on track. Made progress in press for good measure.
[~] Some form of workout 5+ days/week Had 20/28 days, then tweaked my back carrying new AC units for my kids' rooms.
July goals:
[ ] Ride bike to work 2x/week
[x] Vacation (already met 1 goal - woohoo!)
[ ] Progress in PC/BP
Just love summer time. I'm vacationing in Vacationland#1 ATM. Looking very much forward to the Olympics, especially beach volleyball, water polo, and track and field.

** I don't think it's recommended for swelling purposes, just for pain - if it swells you should first cure it before applying the tape - just going with what I've been told.

Well, there are articles and videos on the theratape website recommending and instructing it for this purpose, so i'll go with that and my physio's opinion over yours.

Re: *** HAPPY BIRTHDAY USA #1 JULY LC THREAD***
"Goals for june:
Average roughly 2000 calories a day (maintenance is around 3000 so I'm hoping I'll lose 7-8 pounds?), eating lots of chicken and veggies and eggs and stuff. Been counting calories for 2 weeks so far, has gone above expectation." Huge success. Averaged 1534 calories for june according to my spreadsheet; weighed in at 87.9 kg (194 pounds) this morning, down from 93.4 kg (206 pounds) on June 1, so I've lost 5˝ kg (12 pounds). I've eaten a fair amount of bad food (pizza three times, some other fast food type stuff quite a lot), but on the whole I've eaten really well I think, very pleased with my progress. The only bad days I've had, calorie wise, have been the three alcohol days, which I decided early on that I'd be ok with, and those were just under 3000 each, which isn't too bad for a bad day I think.
"Go from complete beginner's phase (doing warmups and trying to learn the techniques atm) to regularly working out with my kettlebell (16kg), starting Pavel's Enter the Kettlebell program and hopefully progress a bit." lolfail. I did well with getting into working out before I started the calorie counting in May; apparently I couldn't do both at once. Felt very little motivation.
I won't go for any specific goals in July. I'd like to keep doing what I'm doing, weight loss wise, and if I get the urge to swing my kettlebell around a bit, that would be nice too. I'll be very pleased if I weigh 10 pounds less on August 1, might have to stop buying kebabs (popular fast food item in Sweden) so often though

Is this evidence based (pubmed) or an appeal to authority ("my physio", "theratape website")?
Would you consider a chiro an equally viable authority despite almost the entire field being repeatedly discredited by modern science?

Listening to Euro talk about American beer is hilarious. I don't think they (the unwashed masses) even realize that are the hops they use for their stuff is coming from the US. Try to get the brewdog hops samplers and blind taste test them. You can quickly tell which is from the US (even someone who hates beer will understand it quickly).

Also, July goal:
1. Get under 205 (210.2 today)
Hopefully the tapeworm that appears to have taken residence inside of me will make this a cinch. Anything else is a bonus

Re: *** HAPPY BIRTHDAY USA #1 JULY LC THREAD***
So, I'm 5'10, 210 at the moment. My standing reach is about 7'10, and I can barely get the rim jumping, so ~26 inch standing vertical jump right now. Would it be delusional to expect to be able to dunk at some point if I get down to around 170-180 and keep at it in the gym? That would probably mean adding 8-10 inches to my current vert, which doesn't seem like that much to me considering I've never done any jump training, my lifts aren't that impressive, and I still am carrying around a ton of fat, but the actual act itself of dunking at 5'10 still seems like it should be virtually impossible for someone without great natural athleticism, which is me.

Like I said, it had no effect on me. A recent metaanalysis agreed that kinesiotaping has very little if any effect in the treatment or prevention of sports injuries (Kinesio taping in treatment and prevention of sports injuries: a meta-analysis of the evidence for its effectiveness. Sports Med. 2012 Feb 1;42(2):153-64), and that regular athletic tape has similar small positive effects on performance (Effect of athletic taping and kinesiotaping® on measurements of functional performance in basketball players with chronic inversion ankle sprains. Int J Sports Phys Ther. 2012 Apr;7(2):154-66).
Kinesiotaping does not improve vertical jump performance (Effect of the Kinesio tape to muscle activity and vertical jump performance in healthy inactive people. Biomed Eng Online. 2011 Aug 11;10:70.).
Kinesio taping had small but clinically unimportant improvements for some non-specific back pain (Kinesio Taping reduces disability and pain slightly in chronic non-specific low back pain: a randomised trial. J Physiother. 2012;58(2):89-95.)
So i stand with my original thought of gimmick, despite allowing someone to tape me with it at some stage.
I have no thoughts on chiropractic medicine, having never been myself or invested any time in researching it. Some people swear by it here, though often with specific subset of chiro's

Re: *** HAPPY BIRTHDAY USA #1 JULY LC THREAD***
Ok, going back to the conversation about In-N-Out.
I understand where Soulman is coming from at not being impressed with the burgers. There a many, many places to get much better burgers with a much wider variety of fresh ingredients and awesome variations. They are much bigger and have so many different options to suit your taste.
Having said that, In-N-Out is the GOAT fast food burger and you are getting a really good value (which SM mentioned to me about how much food you can get an In-N-Out for cheap). When it comes to cheap, quick, good quality fast food burgers, no one beats In-N-Out.
That's how I feel about it, anyway
