Re: HalfSlant's novice -> intermediate SS log

There's not supposed to be another movement after BBB.

Re: HalfSlant's novice -> intermediate SS log

I've always seen one movement after the BBB sets.

First example I found:

i just looked in 531 2nd edition. it appears you are right, but usually the 2nd movement is something basic (chins, DB rows, etc). Honestly, on squat day, wgaf.

Well JW suggested leg curls, which is why I did the RDLs the one time. I did them pretty light though, but it felt ok. I'll try to keep doing it, see how it goes.

Re: HalfSlant's novice -> intermediate SS log

Went to the gym to coach my fiance... gave the incline chest press machine a try... benched the empty bar for 2x20 and dragged a sled around. Did like 3 100 yard trips with 180lbs.

How do you feel about Wendler's perhaps "most recommended" (for lack of a better phrase) in 2nd ed for squats? 5/3/1 squats + SDLs (done 5/3/1-style but without AMRAP on last set), then for DLs it's front squats/SSB squats for assistance.

Re: HalfSlant's novice -> intermediate SS log

Well I don't have access to a SSB, and I suck at front squats.

Shrug standard squats could done instead right? Ayway, prob nitpicking and doubt the diff would be big doing that or BBB.

Re: HalfSlant's novice -> intermediate SS log

July 10, 2012

5/3/1: Cycle 3 - Press x 5

Press
1x10x45
1x5x65
1x5x85
1x5x100
1x5x115
1x8x130

Decent.

Incline Dumbbell Press
1x10x50
2x10x80

Shoulder started hurting so I stopped after only 2 sets. Don't think this is going to work out since its harder for me to limit the rom at the bottom. I might try BB incline, or one of the machine incline presses.

Barbell Shrug
1x10x135
1x10x185
3x10x225

lol idk. Moar weight next time.

Pull Ups
3x10x0

Re: HalfSlant's novice -> intermediate SS log

July 11, 2012

5/3/1: Cycle 3 - Deadlift x 5

Sumo Deadlift
1x10x135
1x5x185
1x5x225
1x3x265
1x5x295
1x4x335
1x12x335
3x1x375

I messed up the warmups. 3x265 was supposed to be 5x255. Also, the set of 4 was because my grip was painful/weak. The set of 12 was with straps. Singles felt fine.

Plate on Face
4x10x25

One set includes 10 reps front and back. I did not do sides, as I felt like I would end up clocking myself with the plate. Maybe I'll buy a harness if I decide to keep these. Also, I am not going to increase the weight, I'm going to increase the reps until I do 4x25 (ala GSLP)

Pallof Press
1x10x50
3x10x70

Ab Wheel
3x15x0

Was planning to add weight here and do sets of 10, but I couldn't find the damn thing while I was still at the gym, so I did these at home.
