benching with bands is legit. dont know what you mean by handles though, maybe he was trying to do ghetto DE bench workout.

it changes the strength curve, f=CU with U being important.

The more the band is stretched, the more force it will exert on the bar, so it will act like more weight at the top than at the bottom.

Lol. See the man that bro raped me the other day, he was in today and used straps on some pull ups. Worst thing was it was on the assisted pull up machine with a decentish weight by the way he was doing them.
It possible he had them on on the treadmill or a machine. I saw him walking from the corner of the gym with all the cardio and machines with his straps on. Prob didn't take them off the whole session i'll bet.

Two barbell benches at my gym. Today, one was being used by an old guy who was doing ~1/16 bench presses with 20 lb dumbbells (the barbell was just sitting there untouched; yes there were several open non-barbell benches right in front of him). The other was being used for curls -- dude was straddling the bench facing the rack.

This is very common at my gym. Always see these clowns super setting random stuff not using the barbell at all.

I'm sure there's a pedo bear comment I can make here, but it eludes me. Regardless, I prefer more weight behind my snatches.

i got to the MIT gym now. most people are doing legit exercises and few people use the huge machine section. there is almost always someone doing snatches and cleans and squats, with pretty good form. no one does big weight though. yet!?

I was whining earlier in this thread about women takin over our boxing gym (boxercising), and bla bla not enough room but like and we need their monies etc.

Think we are getting it worked out, as they don't seem to be dropping off in numbers like the normal newb fitness people do, but instead multplying like, well...mutipliers.

So we're adding in a yoga day for them, and adding in a couple of exclusive fighter days for us, an hoping it all works out. We can train and not hafta answer lots of dumb questions and be annoyed with no room. And they can do their wiggly bum thingies and meditate and lalala and life goes on. With their moola.

I actually don't mind them there much, our gym is huge, and helpin them out, and trying to get a few to cross over and take up the sport more seriously. Women in it are growing quickly everywhere. But yea, it has gotten annoying.

today I was at the gym doing pullup/pushup super set and this persian guy with a bandana and wife beater on is doing his 6th or so set of smith machine bench press.
Hes about 150lbs and pressing with 1 45lb plate on each side... he's grunting loud as **** with his ipod on, so I guess he doesnt fully know how lame he looks. After his last rep and grunt he gets up and says emphatically "BITCH"

I was so embarrased for even being in the same room as the guy....
