The lift is good so long as the bar went down and back up

I'm vigilant about re-racking weights, but typically leave the bench press at a base weight of 135 given that 90+% of users use that weight or more. Bad form or acceptable?

Bad form, people like to warm up with less even if they'll end up benching more, plus it sucks for the people who need the weight off the bar most.

Edit: also people don't know if you're done, or someone is still using it.

Bad form. Plenty of people who bench well over 135 don't use that as a base weight for warmups. I warm up first with the bar.

And leaving 135 on it is insensitive to the people who 1) don't use 135 as a base weight, 2) aren't strong enough to remove the 45lb plates.

Return all equipment to the default state when you're done.

Do you guys pull pins from stacks when done doing accessory work on the machines? I don't, just wondering where you draw the line.

I keed. I used machines back in my DNEL days. I removed the pin. But I don't know that this is such a big deal. Anyone can switch the pin. You are causing legitimate problems to a lot of people when we're talking about free weights.

Don't pull pins. Pretty much my SOP for everything, like grenades.

I unrack completely, accept for DL, I leave 135 on that.

LDO you gotta take all the weight off the bench when you're done for reasons states above.

Pretty sure at my gym people are required to do a burpee for every # of weight they left out. lol at cleaning up and rearranging the weights in the gym.

Whenever I bench some alpha weights, I leave the weights on so the beta male behind me will know what's up.

Also, just look at your arms bro... unracking my weights will only do you good

Bad form, for all the reasons others stated. Not sure how you could think this is acceptable. Sounds like fancy play syndrome.

I do. I was just saying, the people you rack for don't care nearly as much about you as you do about them.

Even if true, what's your point?

But while I will concede that most people don't think about each other very much, I don't think you're correct that they care less than we do about them. Not if we're asking ourselves to imagine what their experience is like. A lot of people don't consider racking the weights, or racking them in order. They don't understand it's importance, or if they do, they consider other things far more important. Or some other more generous application of empathy.

If your point was far more specific, that they don't care nearly as much about racking weights as we do, then I'll concede, but whether racking weights is important to them seems obvious from the fact that they don't rack weights.

Obviously using the squat rack for curls is poor form, but what about for OHP? Acceptable or are you expected to clean your OHPs?

Completely fine to use I think.

There's no point persay, just that they exhibit the same poor form as we do in the opposite direction and your likely to care much more about clearing weights than them. So, when someone leaves some weight on they should feel far less bad about themselves, when the side that would have a problem with it is committing gym etiquette mistakes in similar fashion.

Still doesn't matter. I will continue to clear everything.
