Related general casino observation: My casino actually has a "no headwear" policy. When they started poker there all the wanna be wsop super stars had a big cry that they couldn't wear their super star hoodies and caps... so they allowed headwear in the poker room. So ******ed.

This.

Just shut the f*ck up in the gym. Seriously. I hate everyone at my gym.

My ggo: Not really much of a New Years crowd at my gym. Maybe a few new faces - but there are always a few faces I don't recognize. I think it's because my gym is in a fairly affluent area and mostly "young urban professionals" who are fairly likely to be going to the gym anyway.

i gave advice once to two guys trying to do deadlifts with the worst form ever. i felt like a dick but it was a serious injury weighting to happen. backs rounded, not engaging their hamstrings at all etc.

i'm always torn when i see people doing things that could hurt them.

Yeah, but what do you think happened next?

You went away and they talked about that skinnyfat dickhead who doesn't even lift giving unsolicited advice and went back to deadlifting how they always did.

I've gotten some good advice on safety and was thankful each time. If they were really averse to hearing yours then they forgot about you within 20 minutes. carry on.

Theres obviously times where one person gives advice and the other is grateful but the vast majority of the time its

A) The person giving advice has no idea what theyre talking about, so just putting more ignorance out

B) The person receiving advice doesn't care or think the other person is correct.

Either way, majority of the time, its a stupid situation we do best to just avoid. Live and let live

was squatting today in a pretty crowded gym (only 3 power racks ) and warming up with 135 when this dude asks me if he can work in, so i say yeah then he goes
"just so you know man, you shouldn't squat ass to grass or you'll have to get surgery like i did"
"oh well ive been taught to squat this way and my form is pretty solid so i think I'm alright"
"no seriously man look *shows me scar on his knee*"
"ok well im gonna keep squatting my way"
"alright then youre ******ed"
"ok man"

how can someone who looks like they lift have no clue

then the dude proceeds to be all smug about squatting 385 about 6 inches while im only putting up 225

If they don't listen then you move onto the next hand. The possible results are lose nothing or a back injury.

Whenever I see a stranger jaywalking. I always chase them down and tell them how dangerous it is. They always tell me how much they appreciate me looking out for them.

lol - towels are a must. What are you the only one that is usually at the gym? hence the no need for the towel

Most obvious case of WWISFD ever.

Some of us don't sweat a bucket each time we're in the gym bro. Try moving out of Sahara, it might help.

Fwiw, the guys I was talking about ended up taking off a bunch of weight and one actually started doing solid deadlifts. Depends on the gym I guess but I think you can come across okay depending on your approach.

If I'm on a speaking basis with someone, I might say, "Okay if I offer you some advice?" But useless intervening with strangers unless you're committed to finding that one out of a thousand people who will listen and get it. But usually it won't matter even if you are right. A complete stranger approaches you to tell you what to do. I don't blame anyone who ignores that person.

They get asked alot. Warmupsets for lifters, and other fat and scrawny guys worksets.

Also get asked more often because of non impressive/non alpha looks, a legit jacked dude for sure does not get hassled about a bench like a guy looking like a stick.

Example, friend of mine never gets a Q about if hes close to done in the squat rack ever, he uses them for a solid 1h+ every time also in a PACKED gym, but since he goes in the region of 200kg on his heaviest lifts ppl tend to ask the other guys occupying squat racks before even considering asking my m8. Unfortunatly my tesis isnt waterproof since hes not scary big(im bigger lol, visibly atleast), hes just been squatting every god damn day for 2+ years, but i guess the feat of big lift keeps the hasslers away

I almost lived one of my dream ggos yesterday:

Had 210 on the bar, guy asks me how long to go, I said I've got a few more sets and he's welcome to work in but I'm not going much heavier than this, he said that's fine, he's not going heavy either and he'll start at 210.

So he does a set of five deadlifts.

I step up and clean it.

Spoiler:
He goes on to deadlift 255 and I clean 220... my real dream is when that is 315 on the bar.

My second dream is doing the same thing with 225 on the bar but against vilians squats.

I stopped comparing myself to others when I was 17yo.
Some will never get beyond that state of mind.

sounds like you have given up comparing yourself to others because you don't want to get disappointed anymore

I have a similar dream where I am push pressing 2 plates (225) while villain is squatting the same. Since almost everyone in my gym who squats loads up 225 and then squats as low as they can with this much weight (oftentimes only a couple inches) this dream is fairly realistic (except of course for the part of me push pressing 225).
