I mean sometimes a fart just comes up but when you decide to do it 4 times within a 25 min period, please keep it in your arse or like you said, walk away...

a friend of mine in high school ran track and said that when he was going race pace in the longer distances, he would frequently fart. in fact, he once crapped his pants during the last few hundred meters of a 3k. so i guess there are just some people who have very little control over their bowels during high intensity cardio.

and yes, we did mock him ceaselessly about this.

If it's outdoors and there's no one around me, perfectly normal to let one out.

But yes, I ran track in HS too and I'd almost start cracking up mid-sprint after hearing someone fart (shorter distances)

I always fart at the start of any running.

Before I go out for a date, I always rope jump. The impact as well as the rapid breathing works like a charm. I sure don't want that stuff coming out in the car.

So I took a big drink of water and clicked on a link to a Blarg post, figuring it would be safe...

The most frustrating thing for me is how many people I see doing all the ****ty lift and practices in this thread...and their still pretty ripped. Genetics FTW apparently.

As important as genetics are, if you eat well and work hard and stick with it, you'll get results. What those folks are demonstrating is that everything works, at least to a point. If you take the long view, then you won't be the 33 year old slob telling anyone who will pretend to listen how ripped you were when you worked out super hard during your last year in college (after your gf dumped you).

So some dude comes near me in the cage, 40s pretty good shape, 6'2"ish. He loads up a barbell on the floor with various bumper plates and 45s totaling maybe 350. He puts his weight belt on, puts his straps on, and proceeds to pick the bar up off the floor, stand up, bring it back down, heavily bounce it off the bumpers, and do 4 more reps like that and then like 5 sets across.

So what do you call this exercise? Livelifts? Bouncelifts? Douchelifts?

So today at one point we had guys doing curls in:

the only squat rack
the only power rack
1 of the 3 bench presses, like he took it off the bench, brought it out in front of the bench, and did curls with it.

within like 5 minutes of each other. There's a full range of dumbbells and fixed weight curl and ez curl bars too.

Awesome.

Is there at least one really loudmouthed guy at your gym? There's this tall white dude who I think went to prison, started talking about the white race or something or other. Always loudly talks in the gym, he really does want everyone to hear what he is saying. Sometimes he's not really talking TO anyone, just talking so people can hear him. He's got a big upper body, but all he does is machines so **** him. I wish I were big enough to tell him to shut the **** up and lift something, not that I would if I were bigger, just that that would be a nice luxury to have.

Also: **** squat rack/power rack/clamp stealing curlers.

That brings up a good point, why is it that every one who does curls with olympic 45lbs bars just HAS to use clamps? Like the plates are gonna fly away from the sheer force of their gunz? My gym has some pretty good plates too i.e. not too "slidey", I only use clamps to add an extra 2 lbs.

Also, I deadlifted 220 today which was a 45, 25, 10, 5, 2.5. Awesome pyramid. Gives me motivation to get to 290.

I use clamps to add 1lb worth of weights to the bar

no joke

but to actually hold the weights, the barbells are always long enough where the weight doesn't slip off. It's always the EZ-bars where the weight slips off much easier.

There's nobody like that at my gym, but there was this one old dude that I ran into once, and he was pretty nicely built for being 60+ (must've been), but he was talking to his other older friend in the stereotypical frat guy lifting weights style.

"AUGHHHh...DEEP BURN. FEELS GOOD"

And he was obviously talking loud enough that I could hear him over my headphones.

He was also one of those guys who throws on as much weight as possible on the lat pull-down and then just throws his entire body into it. Same thing on the upright row. These guys make me want to laugh. There's a beast of a guy who throws on the max weight (I think 300 lbs.) on both of these, but then uses every muscle in his body to get it down.

And, of course, this guy is twice as big as me.

^There's tons of large fellows at my gym that can't lift for ****...

what does that mean? well these people have been doing thsi for years, so yeah even flinging the weight around will get you built.

I too know someone who is ~60 and he's pretty damn built. TBH he can't lift a lot of weight but since he comes to the gym at least 4 times a week and I'm sure he's been doing this for years that his body remains in fantastic shape...

I've used the shoulder press machine specifically to do this. I don't think anyone got it, but it made me happy.

I sometimes go to the health club my family has a membership to- mostly to scare the **** out of people doing overhead lifts, but I also enjoy messing around with some bb stuff and whatnot.

The people there are pretty poorly adjusted. There are a lot of mirrors. On one occasion I was front squatting and walked away from the rack to get some water. When I walked back there was a guy standing in the rack. He's this random dude in his late teens who will randomly show up at the gym for hours at a time and do staggered sets of db and bench press- I have twice had to save him when he dropped the bar on his chest/neck. He was just standing there, staring in the mirror. I said "hey, I've got 2 sets left.". He kind of jumped up and looked startled, turned to me, looked back at the mirror, looked back at me, paused, then said "I was just...." then he nodded towards the mirror. I stared at him blankly. He nods again, then walks away.

....

Another time I was using the power rack and left to get water for 15-20 seconds, and came back to find a middle aged woman sitting on a bosu ball where I was doing rack pulls, staring at herself in the mirror while doing 1/4 crunches.

lol ah yes, the people who love to stare themselves down in the mirror. Especially great when they lift their shirts up and turn to the side and give themselves a look. maybe I'm just cranky cuz I don't have abs...

Wierd development, I've realized that there are at least 1/2 dozen pronstars (male/female) that workout together at my gym at 5am on Wednesdays.

Totally wierd.

Tonight's trip to the gym. Of course it's packed and there are only 3 benchpresses. And of course no one ever puts their weights away so there is no way to tell if someone is using it (seriously, how hard is this?).

So I go to the first unoccupied machine, look around, wait 10 seconds, look around again, see no one that seems interested in my actions. I start to load the bar with the weights I want, then some guy comes out of no where and says he was using it. OK no biggie.

Next machine, stacked with weight as usual, I do the same thing. I ask the people nearby if they are using it or if anyone else is, nope all good. I'm almost done getting the weights on and some other dude comes out of nowhere claiming hes still using it.

So I'm watching these guys as I'm doing other exercises and as soon as they are done with each set they just go off walking around or doing other sets for like 5 minutes, and expect to be able to come back to the bench without anyone interfering with the place packed and 3 benches. WTF.

Also, why the hell can't people just put weights away when they are done, I thought people that go to the gym should be not lazy?

I'm sure everyone hates this. Happens all the time at my gym. People never put weights away and there are signs everywhere and when people put away plates, they put them in the most ****ed up positions possible. Please stop putting the 25s in front of the 10s when there is an empty place for the 25s, etc.

I can't go to the gym between 4-7, because it's just too painful to have to constantly swerve around people who fail to realize the gym is ****ing packed and fight for implements/share implements.

I have only once in my lifetime went to the gym at 7 and I haven't done it since; it was so bad.

Now I make sure I get my workout done before 4:30 and if I can't go that early I'll wait till 8:30 where it's starting to die down. A lot of people at the gym just frustrates the hell out of me and I end up being in a pissy mood because people are douchebags.
