I'm pretty content not getting any bigger right now.
It seems weird to have a job where you have to dress so nicely yet can't afford to buy new clothes.

Feel free to back that claim up with numbers any time you want, chief.

I'm pretty sure goose is quite strong and athletic. I don't really disagree with what he's saying. And size isn't really a positive in everything.

To put it back on g4s, I can't fathom wanting to be that big.

Re: General Gym Observations

That's fine, but to say "I can squat 405 and I'm content with that" is entirely different than "I'm stronger than you, so why are you even talking to me?"

Pretty safe to say G4S is the weird one when he feels tiny if he drops below 290 or something (right?). That's just not normal dude

How could anyone be content only squatting 405?!

Otherwise being someone his size is very expensive/time consuming.
True.

Really? Hmmm.....just doesn't compute with me. But I understand many people probably feel that way. Simply put though, being big is awesome

There is probably some truth to this as well. I have never once looked and in the mirror and thought I was 'big enough'. I suspect I never will. I want to be as big and as strong as I possibly can.

Re: General Gym Observations

Been a member at 3 gyms over a few years, at each one there is a individual that always seems to be there, sweats enourmous ammounts and seems to be able to go forever.

Each one is obese, and never looks any slimmer. Stable diet of Mcdonalds?

Re: General Gym Observations

I assume they're doing cardio? The "going forever" probably still only burns them like 400+ calories, and they can basically make that up with a cheeseburger. Even worse if they're on a treadmill/bike that's lying to them and telling them they're burning like 2000 cals.

At least they're healthier than someone that same size that sits on the couch.

On this note, I was at the gym recently and there was a fairly obese woman who literally did 40 minutes on the C2 rower followed by stationary bike. I left when she was on bike so I do not know how much cardio her total workout was but it must have been impressive.

If this is her normal workout (which it probably is, I am guessing it takes some time to build up that kind of cardio even if it is on a machine) I wonder if she really thinks she is burning 10,000 calories, or whatever the screen is telling her.

along these lines -- i started Rippetoe about a year ago at 188 lbs. Now I'm at 173. I'm waaay stronger though. And to my surprise, although I look a lot nicer, I am not any bigger measurement-wise. Pretty solid though if i do say so myself.

Re: General Gym Observations

Oh, and ya obv people who are trying to stay in weight classes for a sport or compete in a sport/activity where strength-to-weight ratio is important.

Re: General Gym Observations

I enjoy being bigger and stronger, and I'll probably enjoy it more if and when I stop being a fatass. But being 300lbs just isn't conducive to a lot of things in daily life. It's pretty sweet if you throw cabers and **** though.

Re: General Gym Observations

Yeah I'm only like 185-190 right now but I'm pretty strong so I never considered gaining weight until recently (sports)

I look very skinny and I dislike it.
