Re: General Gym Observations
I really should have gone front half squat to power curl but unfortunately my IRL trolling skills are not very advanced.

Re: General Gym Observations
Craziest thing I've ever seen in a gym, happened a few weeks ago.
You could compare my gym (Health City, European fitness chain) with the movie Dodgeball's "Globo Gym". It's really clean, modern, big and people that train there are just everyday individuals. Male, female, young, old. What I'm trying to say is that it's not an oldskool testosterone filled gym with huge guys who are about to burst whilst lifting truck tires and making Neanderthal noises.
Anyway, there's this rumor that some stuff got stolen out of one's locker. Now there's this immigrant guy (let's call him Mehmed, he's from Turkey but he speaks Dutch with a small accent) constantly asking everyone if he/she had something to do with it. He looks like he's constantly high on speed and has a heartbeat of about 200bpm. Whenever he's not lifting weights at 300% speed he's either shadowboxing like a maniac or stretching his legs above his head.
It's a sunny afternoon, just another day at the gym, with some familiar faces around me. Everyone's just minding their own business. All of a sudden this Mehmed STORMS into the equipment room like a freaking wildman wearing nothing but tight shorts and shoes. He runs over to this noob guy who's using the bike machine and started yelling (it doesn't sound as funny in English obv)
"WHAT DID U SAY IM FROM ****ING MOROCCO OR WHAT?? DO YOU THINK IM A ****ING MOROCCAN?!!??"
He pushes the guy on the bike over, who was completely defenseless since his feet were stuck in the pedals with velcro. The noob guy was yelling he didn't know what was going on and he had nothing to do with it. Mehmed keeps on pushing him while he's trying to get up and I believe I saw him hitting the dude in the face, more or less.
Obviously the whole gym was like "wtf!?" but everyone just stood there astonished. Finally some "bigger" guys tried to calm Mehmed down and he ran off, half-naked, yelling (seriously)
"YOU'RE NOT SAFE! YOU'RE NOT SAFE I PROMISE! IM GONNA PUT YOUR CAR ON FIRE! I **** YOUR ****ING SOUL" (i'm not joking)
The guy tries to yell a final angry "I did nothing!!?" while he was checking his face for blood.
Eventually, after Mehmed cooled off a bit, it turned out the noob guy was talking to a friend in the dressing room about the stolen stuff and said something in the nature of "it's probably one of those Moroccons again", while he gave Mehmed a glimpse with the corner of his eyes (unintended? who knows).
The staff did nothing about Mehmed's subscription, and we never saw the noob guy again.

Re: General Gym Observations
I forgot to mention the bike machine flipped over as well, with the dude still "sitting" on it.
Pretty entertaining moment typical situation where everybody thinks it's so wrong but too pussy to do something about it. He would definately kick my ass though, the guy's a complete wackjob and a constant ball of rage. I don't understand why the gym doesn't kick him out, everybody's scared of him lol

Re: General Gym Observations
Former world strongest man Magnus Samuelsson was on swedish radio today and you could call and ask him questions. I found out after the radio show was over otherwise the trolling possibilities were endless, would have been very funny to do the standard "squats are bad for your knees, riiiiiiiiight?" or something.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDrijM0H_Uc he talked about this, about 2.00 he breaks the other guys arm in arm wresting

Re: General Gym Observations
How wasn't that guy kicked out of the gym permanently? I don't care if the other guy strung together racial slurs for 30 solid seconds, physical aggressiveness of that amount at a gym is a recipe for disaster.
Not that the noob was "doing it right" either but I can't imagine people feel safe in that gym. Also, I can't imagine people will be less racist than they may have been when looking at that guy now, he's obv completely insane.

Nathan Jones' story is kinda interesting though, prison, powerlifting and strongman, and now wrestling and movies.

Wow. Found this on his wiki page.

Before his career as a wrestler, Jones was sentenced to 16 years in Boggo Road Gaol for eight armed robberies between 1985–1987, two of which occurred in Tasmania. During the robberies, he became one of Australia's most wanted and ended up serving seven years in a maximum-security prison and one year on work release.[6] While in prison, he was introduced to the sport of powerlifting. Within a short space of time, he became the National Powerlifting Champion of Australia.

There is not many humans built that big so it must not have been hard to figure out who was doing the armed robberies.....
