Re: General Gym Observations

Outside my gym there is a rugby field and running tracks. A couple of months ago there was a guy running in converse shoes, jeans, no shirt and a headband while smoking. I was not the only one who found this strange

Re: General Gym Observations

Some guys were doing seated shoulder presses in the squat rack, when theres already a shoulder press in the gym that wasn't being used. closer to the mirror I guess.

it's like this:

the bench they used in the squat rack was longer, I don't know, is it legit?

Re: General Gym Observations

if they were doing seated presses in a squat rack without a back support that is probably a good thing. if they were using a back support, that's cool too i guess, they just aren't allowed to call that a "press" when referencing how much weight they can "press".

Re: General Gym Observations

It's not? I didn't know that. I just discounted all seated presses.

Re: General Gym Observations

some cubey mid-40s guy doing leg press with 7 plates sees some friend and tells him how he used to be able to do "10 to 15 plates." maybe there are some differences between leg presses, but thats a big range, like saying you used to be able to bench 200 to 300 pounds.

then he tells his friend that he did squats a while ago and ruined his back and had to go to the chiropractor and he's never doing them again. then he said,
"i was doing three plates. thats a lot of weight, man. what is that... like 325?" other guy said yeah, something like that.

how can you have spent like 20 years lifting heavy weights in gyms and not know how much three plates on each side weighs? he had a fancy custom weight belt tho.

I like the description of "really upright incline bench".

Re: General Gym Observations

Couple of days ago, I observed this guy doing deadlifts with what was obviously alot of weight for him. His form was not good - bending over way too much (it hurt my back just watching). Shortly thereafter I hear a loud boom of weight being dropped and then he hobbles slowly to the front desk while rubbing his knee. ****** way to learn the value of proper form.

is it just me or does that almost look so easy that its fake? I mean, he doesn't struggle one bit with it.....if he can do 315 that easily, I'd have to think he could add some weight...but if he could add weight then why not do more to make the video more impressive?
