obv non necessary tip, don't start ripping from the floor with any slack in your shoulders. i didn't have my arms set when i came up and just strained the hell out of my right shoulder jerkin it up- picture 2 cars towing, slack in the chain between them and the front one pulling ahead, mega instant force.

i stoopid.

That's why you see a guys tugging hard on the bar before their lift to make sure there isn't slack. Also helps to prevent bicep tears in case you have some bend in your elbow when you pull (mainly for deadlifts but same concept).
Maintaining slack/relaxation in your arms on cleans is pretty standard.

Re: General Gym Observations

Yea, he's prob keeping his shoulders really tight though... probably best left to experts to leave that much slack in your arms. Like I said bicep tear is a lot less likely with cleans because it's so much less weight than with deadlifts.

That being said, I don't see how Kendrick Farris doesn't have injured arms/shoulders/elbows with the way he's ripping 200+ off the floor like that.

267.5kg or 150% of 1RM? That's a good weight for an isometric isn't it? Please answer, this is very important to me and my training.

This set up is even better:

25/25/20/20/15/15/10/10/5/5/2.5/2.5/1.25/1.25-----------------------1.25/1.25/2.5/2.5/5/5/10/10/15/15/20/20/25/25

Ugh what am I doing? The gym management are morons as I've previously documented and there is no progress in sight with them so I'm fighting dirty. Maybe leave a note saying 'new barbells please or this will never stop'. I also need an Islamic Hijabl to conceal my identity when I'm in the gym.
This reminded me of a gym I belonged to when I first started weight training. The manager of the gym was a aspiring body builder whose epic roid rages were directed at the poor souls who didn't strip the bars or didn't re-rack their dumbells AFTER EACH SET. This guy was a damn Nazi when it came to putting the weight away and having witnessed his verbal tirades I got into the habit early on to put the weights away EXACTLY where they are supposed to go and re-rack the dumbells after each set. And it got worse as he got closer to a competition because according to other members he "hated dieting". This was over 20 years ago and I still follow this habit to this day - fear is a powerful teacher.

That reminds me of a great quote I read.

"Violence solves everything. If it's not solving your problems, you aren't using enough of it."

Re: General Gym Observations

To avoid shoulder rounding with any sort of weight you need to "flex" your shoulders, but this is an esoteric point. You're not actively focusing on scapular retraction nor maximal retraction, more just like "I don't wanna look like Qausi-modo".

Yeah, I'm hesitant to call things out on animal cruelty and such, but using your clearly uncomfortable as a weight lifting implement to look cool on the internet to a bunch of freaks gives me a little of that, "You're a queer" feeling.

But wtf am I saying, its Gheyfit. They're all queers.
