Today's observation was interesting. Young guy, early 20's with a medium, lean frame, probably 165-170lbs. benched four clean reps at 315lbs. with excellent form and no spotter.

From looking at guy there's no way you would think he's capable of properly benching that much.

I'm not saying that fat = doesn't know jack**** about physical training, but you'd think that they'd at least practice what they preach, you know?

It's sort of like getting stock tips from the guy who declared bankruptcy because his stock portfolio hit the dirt, or getting life/fashion tips from the hobo on the street.

In other news...

Saw a PT who is small, couldn't be over 5'10 and while quite broad, I would wouldn't put him over 200-210lbs. Worked squats up to 4x190, ATG. I was like head=asplode.
A PT doing ATG? *Head Asplode*

Ok this happened a few weeks ago and put me on tilt for two solid weeks.

About 3 months ago I was benching for reps at about 205/210 but ended up fracturing my collar bone (not at the gym). On this day I was benching for the first time since hurting my collar bone; it had been about two months and I wasn't sure how well my shoulder was doing so I decide to do a workset at 165. The only other person at the gym with me is this chicken-legs bro doing curls.

Unfortunately as I am benching I forget to put the collars on the bar. I left them on the pins under the bar and so when I go to do my first rep I hit the collars on the way down. The bar ends up stuck on one collar but gets past the second collar. This causes the weights to start sliding off the bar. So now I am flailing around trying to regain control of the weights. I end up steadying myself and getting the bar up and reracked alright but it was pretty ugly. Embarrassed, I quickly reset the weights and put the clamps on.

I then give myself a quick breather and decide to just try again. As I am under the bar getting ready to go the other bro literally puts his hand on my bar so I can't lift and says

bro:"wooooaaaahhhhh bra you need to take it easy; you're going to hurt yourself"
me: "Oh, I just had clamps in the way that last time. Don't worry, I'm fine."
bro: "clamps? really? Look if you don't have anyone with you you need to just drop down to a weight you can handle."
me: "No really, the weight is not a problem, I just ran into the clamps last time"
bro: "Ok man whatever, just be careful."

Worst part was my shoulder was killing after that last rep so I try again but only do one and decide to stop. As I am reracking my weights I see the bro just kind of smirking and shaking his head. So tilting...

Tell him you're recovering from a shoulder injury?

Also, subconscious clearly at work here.

i'm pretty sure i've gotten LESS business as a result of being pretty built, just because i work at a p***y type place where everyone(except people i train) is totally worthless. one of my clients who is really thin and very strong was talking about me to one of her coworkers, and the lady said, "oh i've seen him, he has a lot of muscles, why would you want him to train you?"

saw a bro doing leg presses with each side maxed out on plates. he's got a trainer on one side and some random that he asked for help on the other side both pushing. actually pushing not just spotting. he proceeds to bang out a few 1/8 rom presses then puts his hands on his knees to assist for a few more reps. I can just imagine all the bragging he's going to be doing tomorrow as he rings up the regulars at GNC.

Correct response here is, "WTF does that mean, lady?"

Pretty big WTF moment today at the gym. Saw a guy, who might be Rowdy Roddy Piper, sitting on a bosu ball with some apparatus around his neck and chin attached to a cable machine with ~30lbs hanging from it. He sat there for 5 minutes until someone helped him out of his contraption. He then spent the next 20 minutes shadow boxing himself in the mirror and hanging from a pull up bar stretching.

Probably has the classic chick fallacy that she'll get musclebound overnight if she picks up anything heavier than a 3lb pink dumbbell, and if she lets a gross muscley guy like you train her, you'll mercilessly force her to lift heavy stuff.

Some new girl is working at the gym, very tall and petitie part-Vietnamese looking girl. She's dressed up hot and skanky too, extremely tight clothes on a good body, lots of make up and jewelry, she's hot, but in a slightly trashy sort of way. Apparently it's her first day (overhead some dudes making conversation with her, see above description).

She and some trainer were talking to these huge fat women at one of the little desks when I came in.

Sure enough 15-20 minutes later they're bringing them over to the free weights area and line them up and are having them do curls with 5 lb weights.

It was such a bizarre trainwreck to behold, these two fat women who weigh at least 250 lb, a trainer, and some south asian hoochie all in a row doing sychronized curls with 5 lb'ers.

bad comparison as Van gundy is clearly limited by his physical short fallings. Anyone can be in good shape if they eat right and follow a strict workout regiment.

if a personal trainer can't motivate himself to be in good shape ( not even talking about bring totally ripped) not sure why anyone would think he could do any better for them.

While doing my leg/back rehab I have been yelling sporadic racial slurs due to the pain. Generally no one is in the gym except a white kid that I train.

CH's story reminded me of this (cracker) chick that is always at the gym. She is petite, "toned", always wearing tight and somewhat slutty clothes, long blonde hair, make-up done, etc. Can rep out some serious chinups (although she couldn't weigh more than 110)... but for some reason she's just not attractive. I don't know what it is (probably face tbh... and has no ass )... I think she might have gone too far with everything... too "toned", too petite, too slutty, too strong... I dunno... Anyway, useless without pics obv.

This is somewhat old, she's a bit more muscular in the bicepts/delts/traps now I would say (repping out all those chins obv)

Spoiler:

...don't ask me why I have this pic.
