Isn't that like the VAST mojrity of random spots you've gotten though?

Guy completely failed 100kg and had to have it hauled off his chest by his spotter (who never removed his hands from around the bar). Solution? Add 20kg and try again except this time with massive 5 second orgasm scream.

please do this. or tell him you're going for like 8 reps then start to fail on the 1st rep and just keep yelling, "gotta get 8, GOTTA GET 8!"

Don't ask if it was all you, just say "All me" and grunt when you get up.

Combine those with some derogatory curses and you have a gym troll win, provided when you get up there are proper bro's that are impressed by your show of pure manliness

This is pretty much the image in my head when I hear the different terms. IMO atg 225 guy will have a much easier time quarter squatting 315 than the other way around.

This is so awesome, please do it and record it.

Snitch,

lots of very strong dudes at my gym.

this one guy, who works out very hard, was squatting 315 for 10 reps or so.
What do I know, I can't squat anywhere near that (yet), but he has no clamps,
and the racks are set so high he has to do a calf raise to put the bar back.

So, as he's doing his squats, and he's easily pounding them out, the 45's
start rattling around and are vibrating like crazy, slowly getting more and more
space between them, til about an inch or 2 each between each plate.

So I offer him the clamps ( since there's only 3 sets in the whole gym )
and he says "No thanks, it just adds weight."

O_O

Wow, winner. That's just completely mind boggling.

Most people don't use clips. The plates moving a bit doesn't matter too much as long as they don't cause an imbalance.

All I know is that I get yelled at for not lifting with clamps by the gym attendant at school. But only on the bench press. Even on warm up sets...they'll actually stop you mid lift. So annoying.

This is actually dangerous. Its safer to bench without clips.

Yeah I def don't clip up for the bench. Nor the press, no reason really. I do for sq and dl.

I actually just ordered a nice set of muscle clamps because I got tired of wandering around looking for clamps. Plus theyre easier to use, and mainly I want them because they do a good job of keeping the plates in place during the DL.

Yeah, at my main gym I only use clips for the DL. I graduate in like a week but I tried not to use the school gym unless schedule was insane. Crazy thing about the college policy was that they wouldn't say anything about the squat, despite the fact that the only rack was right next to a door and people would literally be squeezing by you mid-lift to get in/out.

If there's an inch or two between each plate on a 315x10 lift, I'd say that's plenty of cause for concern. And anyway, the lolz were had because of his explanation of why he didn't use them.

I use clips for the deadlift and the clean. Not for anything else.

+1

I pulled 155 off a guy with clips about 2 weeks ago, and he kept BPing with them so I pointed out why he should BP sans them in a non dickish way (if thats possible) he said yea definitely I see your point. He definitely kept BPing with clips after that though of course

You have to be pretty momentously ******ed to get stuck with 155 on the BP, clips or no.

You should be able to roll that down yourself pretty easily and stand up.

There was a guy deadlifting next to me today with perhaps the finest set of bitch tits I have ever seen. He really emphasized chest up at lockout more than anyone I've ever seen, it was all I could do not to start laughing, it was like he was putting them out for display.

The only good thing about those stupid 10 edged rubber coated plates is that they do not move around at all during your set. Other than that they are fail.
General Gym Observations Quote
04-27-2011 , 02:12 PM
AT my gym they move around more than round ones.
General Gym Observations Quote

I always use clips for squats. Not because the plates move that much without them, but because I can picture in my mind what a megafail it'll create if somehow one plate falls off, and I tilt to the heavier side, then all those plates fall, then back to the other side for the remainder of those plates to fall, and somewhere in there I fall over the safety bar, spraining my knee and impaling some poor kid on the bench press with the bar.
