It's not that rare for barely a single weight in my gym to be on the racks.

Its also not unusual for people to curl right in front of the dumbbell racks. At least no one I have seen has ever curled in the squat/power rack.

My gym's TVs are always playing ESPN near the treadmills and ellipticals, and by the freeweights it's always some channel with a fake daytime Judge or Ellen and only the owners can operate the TVs/music

This has to be a joke right?

Seriously thinking about leaving a note by the office over this lol

lifting over the long run may cause your brain to get really strong (it's a muscle obviously) and will cause your head to explode

i dont recommend it

There is no possible downside to training to absolute, Jesus-seeing failure at every opportunity on every day.

You need to clearly state what your long-term goal is for anybody to answer that

They'll probably say lifting hard every single day isn't sustainable

And they'll probably say lifting hard in a sustainable way (3 - 5 times a week) will have short term benefits, and if you keep doing it, those will become long-term benefits

-Stronger
-Healthier
-Better looking

This is bad advice.

You should go to your local GNC and buy one of everything. Your supplements will be 90% of your gains. You won't be able to train daily (probably twice a day if you're serious) without them.

well my long term goal is to lose all this weight i have and in the end i wish to go from way overweight to being built like a monster.not the monsters that compete, just the guy everybody looks at in the gym and says "jesus that guys huge." as far as suppliments the only thing im on is a pre work out drink and post workout is creatine. Im switching to eating mostly chicken breasts, porkchops, rice, etc..etc.. and salads to eat helathier, no more fast food that stuff is the devil.as far as energy, its been through the roof everysince i started last week, the other day i was at the gym three times in 1 day but the usual is 1 trip a day.I don't really think i can skip a day due to bordom and the fact all i want to do is be in the gym.I have given myself a goal of transforming my body in 2 years, due to the fact i moved to a small lame town for a 2 year college and will be here with nothing else to do.

You'll probably **** yourself if you lift heavy every day.

live and learn. lift however you want for 8 weeks, then re-evaluate. repeat. lifting is a learning process.

My press is super close to intermediate but my squat is not even novice. I'm so depressed. I'm convinced I have longer than normal legs, but maybe I'm just a pussy. I'm going to measure my ratios one of these days.

Actually you've just made me think barge. I'm very probably intermediate in my press too. I was wondering why i couldn't get passed 55kg for my 3 sets. The 1 rep max in PP is about 66kg for my weight give or take, I think i could get that up for 1 rep although i don't have a clue what my 1 RM is. What would you guys guess? Whats the jump in weight from your 3 sets of 5 to a 1RM (obv impossible to know but your best guesses).

My 1rm press is probably 10% above my 5rm and 15% above my 3x5rm

It's probably higher if you get more emotionally into maxing

I feel like press has the narrowest gap between 1 RM and 5 RM. The first rep of my 5 RM sets is usually so hard I'm not sure I could even do 5 pounds more.

something tells me that you're still firmly within novice SS.

and unless you have a strength goal where you'll completely stop lifting afterwards, i can't see how you'd argue against my statement.

My gym's TVs all face the cardio machines, so I get to watch TV during my 2 minute warmup on the elliptical and thats it. Pretty annoying....

byproduct of breathing at the top, which makes it the only lift where reps are executed differently within the same set.

I swear to god this is my problem. It is embarrassing that I squat only 20 lbs more than I bench (and I've put up 305 on bench). And it's not for neglecting legs either... sigh (except that I did tear my MCL twice so that hindered some working out).

As a story - when I was in high school and doing driver's ed, the instructor told me I had to sit on a pillow when I drove. I was 6'1, he was about 5'5. I was like, you've got to be kidding me, I'm like 8 inches taller than you and you don't sit on a pillow. His response?

"Yeah, but you're all legs. You got a stumpy torso."

not everyone's going to be smart enough to find and start with a decent program. look at bb.com. i quit trying to tell people to do a program that they don't want to do. all that will do is ruin any motivation they have to work out. let them do what they want in the gym for 8 weeks, then ask them about their gains. when they're embarrassed, they'll be more willing to adopt a better program and might even understand why they need to change.

unless you have a definite time that you plan to completely stop lifting, what's 8 weeks in a lifetime? 2 months where you're trying something new to meet your goals. it works or it doesn't. now you know and will lift smarter tomorrow.

if you think learning how a new program affects you is insane, have fun when SS stops working.
