315 would probably be easier than 310 with all the extra plates on there.

eh, troll?

actually bar slack is beneficial to making a lift easier - it decreases the range of motion. But that's only when there are a lot of plates of similar size. The miniscule size of the 10/5/2.5 is inconsequential.

People will tell you calibrated plates are harder to lift because they leave the ground at the same time because of how tightly they are packed together - you don't even need a stiff bar. At a glance you might mistake a 315 calibrated lift for a lot less if you didn't know.

I could be wrong, but I am just thinking that the weight would go out further thus creating a bit more momentum. I could be wrong.

The moment arm would have to be extreme to change the dynamics of the stability of the lift where a quarter or half inch offset could make a difference.

If a bar is that bendy otherwise, it probably shouldn't be used, well, for any lift.

Yeah, good point. I guess I was overthinking it (or perhaps under thinking it).

Yeah, no clips. These college kids have never considered that, btw. "Take that clip off" every time, lol.

I've been barely clearing my last rep the last 2 workouts. Next time, 315. Next time, like tomorrow or Sunday. But then...I'm also going to go for 395 deadlifts, so perhaps the same question will come up.

I learned something very interesting yesterday, had no idea there were different circumference bars for the same weight.

My gym uses 30mm olympic bars (I'm pretty sure of this anyhow). My deadlift grip strength has been consistently lousy since the start. It's so bad I've had to resort to mixed grip.

I pointed this out to my powerlifting coach and he told me that he preferred the 28mm and the 29mm bars for competition. That small difference in bar circumference was HUGE for my grip strength. With the skinnier bars I was able to add 20 pounds to my deadlift workset and I was able to do this with a normal grip!

Anyways maybe that is standard industry knowledge but I was blown away what a difference it made and felt like sharing.

Yeah we have a slightly fatter bar at my gym. I always use that one for squat and the narrower one for bench and deadlift.

I think I have fairly narrow bars at home - sometimes when I watch crossfit vids I am like "Does this person have tiny hands or are they using a really thick bar"
