For me they are incredibly important for so many exercises I do.
If you wanted to use the mirror so bad, why didn't you use the bench that said villain is using? Seems like you failed in bench selection in the first place.

No, using mirrors for form check is horrible for squats and DL. I'm not sure if mirrors are good for anything, which is why I'm glad my gym has removed just about all of the mirrors except right by the dumb bells.
