Quote:
It's a simple formula: Do your best and somebody might like it. - Dorothy Baker
Quote:
We're staying sober for ourselves, not for anyone else. Our body
and our spirit are at stake. And we know what we need to do to stay sober.

If we feel shaky about going to a party, we don't go--no matter who gets upset.

If our job makes it hard to stay sober, we get a different one---no matter
who it upsets.

It's simple: we must take good care of ourselves before we can be good to others. In doing this, we learn how to be a friend, a good parent, a good spouse. We have to care for ourselves to have good relationships.
Quote:
Sobriety can refer to many different things depending on the individual. For some, it means sobriety from substance abuse. For others, it means sobriety from dysfunction. For others, it means emotional sobriety.
Quote:
Members of a 12-step program find a way to solve their personality problems by recovering three things. First, they recover their personal integrity. They pull themselves together. They get honest with themselves and with other people. They face themselves and their problems honestly, instead of running away. They stop taking anyone else's inventory but their own. They take a personal inventory of themselves to see where they really stand. Then they face the facts instead of making excuses for themselves.
Quote:
With a Step Ten inventory, we are learning that we have choices. When we arrived at ACA, many of us used control disguised as choice. In reality, we had no choice before working Step One or the remaining Steps of ACA.
Quote:
Before finding ACA, many of us had control usually followed by loss of control and self-blaming despair that left us confused and lost. Our denial locked us into believing we must reapply ourselves. Before recovery, we did try again--countless times--and we failed again.

We repeated the same mistakes expecting different results. We blamed others for the results and failed to change our own behavior. We repeatedly picked people who could not love themselves and attempted to extract love from them.

Some of us developed a compulsion so strong for another person that we could not easily break away from that person even when we were clearly involved in a relationship that duplicated the abuse of our neglectful homes. Many of us needed intervention to move on and focus on ourselves.

My best 225 bench was 8. So you doubled that.

My best 225 squat was 10, you were there. Fack, you can definitely double that.

Who would have thought that a former fatty like yourself from a third-world country could one day bench and squat half of my casual AMRAPs. Good job.

Bad bicycle accident yesterday. Don't remember anything. Witness said I hit a bump, front tire came off and I went flying. Embarrassed to say I wasn't wearing a helmet.

Bad concussion. Chipped tooth. Left eye required immediate plastic surgery and is currently sealed shut. Cognitive functions good but recovery and endurance will take a while. In hospital.

TY Hot mess rn. Crying at the drop of a hat. Pain ebbs from overwhelming to whatever. Just in general feel scared. My body has always been my go-to. But the doctor says mood swings and crying and fear and anger are normal for concussions.

TY

My brother and my girlfriend and her daughter have been with me most of the time. And my S&F bros and sistahs are only a text away.

Not even allowed to watch movies or read much because of the cognitive demands. A few minutes in and the headache from hell becomes bad enough I want to scream.

I should post a pic of my face. What loco will look like if he accepts all wagers. Fresh meat.

Passing out again.
