Thanks for convincing me never to do this. I've already ripped a pair of jeans and shorts this summer. Don't want to buy all new clothes.

ugh - that's a fair point, especially because i just got custom fitted for a few suits. they had to give me size 38 pants to fit my legs and then draw the waist in to a 32.

That's crazy. My quads are only 24 inches, which I'm sure is still relatively small. I'm not in the made to measure pants realm just yet.

Yea, I was in full made-to-measure, which kinda sucked. The entire process was about 100x more difficult than it should've been.

Somehow I still need 30's for waist which is probably my biggest problem. All but a few 32s typically fall off of me.

I wore 30's when I was 140 pounds and am still wearing them when I'm 170+.... Quads are a little bit bigger.

7-8

C2 Row- 3x 200m repeats- all under 36 seconds (1:30/500 pace)
Bench- 45x10x2, 135x5, 155x3, 175x2, 195x1, 205x2 (paused), 210x2 (paused), 185x5 (slow)

Had planned to bench more but my biceps tendon was bothering me. I've probably been taking too much weight in my arms when I squat. Lots of SMR this weekend.

Just thought I'd share that I have absolutely 0 desire to go to the gym this week. Had a super stressful and sleep depriving weekend so I didn't lift yesterday, but after a good night's sleep last night I'm out of excuses. Hopefully writing this down will help to keep me from adding unnecessary rest days or coming up with excuses:

290x7x5 tonight
305x5x7 Thursday (possibly Wednesday if I somehow feel good)
320x3x10 Friday

how much rest are you typically taking between the triples?

3 mins at the beginning, 6-7 mins by the end.

7-12

Squat- 45x5x2, 135x5, 185x4, 225x3, 265x2, 290x7x5
Bench- 45x10x2, 135x5, 155x3, 175x2, 195x1, 210x4.5
Barbell Curls- 45x7, 65x5, 95x5, 100x4

3rd set of squats was a breeze. 4th and 5th were pure hell. Not surprised to miss the bench after that kind of effort, so whatever. Definitely not doing any abs this week with all the squats.

7-14

C2 Row- 500m x 1:34.8
Squat- 45x5x2, 135x5, 185x4, 225x3, 265x2, 290x1, 305x5x7

Bleh. Rowing hard first was a mistake, although I'm pretty happy with that time, could maybe do 1:33 with better pacing/start.

Every squat rep was soul crushing. There were maybe 3 reps that felt like 305, everything else felt like 330. Really not sure I can make 320x3x10. Gonna try it Saturday morning because **** if I'm going back to the gym tomorrow.

7-16

Squat- 45x5x2, 135x5, 185x4, 225x3, 265x2, 305x1, 320x3x10

Lifted with Bruiser today. He's a lot stronger than I had expected. Will hopefully lift again with him another weekend.

Squats went about as well as I could've hoped, maybe because I was pretty jacked up on stimulants. 10th set was the easiest actually. I probably could've done 6-7 reps on my last set, which was around what I could've done before I started the program. Hopefully when fresh I'll be able to do ~350 for a 5rm. 4 plate 1rm one time.

My rack felt off an most of the sets, but was never in danger of failing any reps. Certainly happy to be done though, I'm not sure the skin on my shoulders could handle any more. Will probably deload volume and intensity for the next week, then test a 5rm and a 1rm the week after that. My gym's closed for a lot of August, so I'm not sure what the plan is gonna be for then.

Between Burke's pics, DF's squats, and a Bruiser appearance, today's lifting session was worthy of its own thread/TR.

God damn it just tell us how much he trap bar deadlifts already

Dunno, we don't have a trap bar.

So this is probably ill advised, but I'm squeezing a SmolovJr bench cycle in over the next couple of weeks. My gym is closed for 3 weeks in August so besides KB swings, pushups, and pullups I won't be able to do much. I actually feel really good right now regarding soft tissue and energy levels, and I'm confident that I can keep squatting for the first 2 weeks of the bench cycle and still hit a new 5rm/1rm in the squat. Dunno what has changed recently, but for the last month my work capacity really seems to be so much greater than at any point in my training history. Hopefully it holds.

 Day A Day B Day C Day D
Week 1 165x6x6 175x5x7 185x4x8 195x3x10
Week 2 175x6x6 185x5x7 195x4x8 205x3x10
Week 3 180x6x6 190x5x7 200x4x8 210x3x10

7-17

Bench- 45x10x2, 135x5, 155x3, 165x6x6

Can't lift tomorrow and I'm short on time until my gym is closed so I did this today. Very easy, obv.

He seems like a good guy most of the time in my communications with him.

7-19

Squats- 45x5x2, 135x5, 185x4, 225x3, 275x2, 315x1, 345x1, 375x1 (5 lb pr)
Bench- 45x10x2, 135x5, 155x2, 175x5x7
Cable Row- 3 sets of 10
Band Pull Aparts- 3 sets of 15

Form was a little meh on squats. Also am probably still a little worn down and didn't have any stimulants preworkout, so an easy 5 lb pr is solid. Probably could've ground out 385, but I'd rather rest and take a stab at 405 in a couple weeks.

Bench was easy. Paused a couple reps each set. It's awesome how quickly I'm getting stronger off the chest; lockouts were difficult on the later sets but I was always fast off the chest.
