Re: Doug's Mile High Log

Nothing really, it's just super nitty. It is so ingrained in my routine now though I see no reason to change.

Re: Doug's Mile High Log

I wish I'd switched grips even once per workout, after deadlifting with the same grip for years I have a notable imbalance between my left/right lats. Slowly fixing it but it's prettttyy annoying.

Re: Doug's Mile High Log

8-8 Deload

Bench- up to 225x1
Pushups- 5 sets of 20
KB Rows- 88#x10x2
Lat stretches with a band

Bench was disappointingly hard. For some reason I just cannot stay tight with the bar on my chest with more than 205 lbs. Whatever, I don't care about upper body strength anymore, just aesthetics. As long as I deadlift 500 this year I'll be happy.

I know this has been said a lot but you're strong as balls.

Re: Doug's Mile High Log

Thanks.

I should probably just stop reading Halfslant's, Aiden's, and <3 tha grind's logs for now. They're all progressing too fast.

On that note bodyweight was 166 this morning, so I've gained around 10 lbs in the last 6 weeks.

Re: Doug's Mile High Log

8-10 Deload

Powerclean- up to 195x1, full clean 205x1x2 (didn't catch high enough)
HBBS- 225x5x3
Swiss Ball Situps- 2x25
Pallof Press- 2x10 each side
Leg Raises- 2x15
Side Bends- 2x10

Pretty sure I can powerclean 205, I'm just a bit rusty. Videoed a couple of the heavier singles and the extension wasn't there.

Re: Doug's Mile High Log

Got 1 more deload workout tomorrow. After that I'm gonna switch to a more standard 5/3/1 template. I don't expect to do much with my squat, hopefully just get back to my old PRs, but I think squatting less is probably good for my deadlift and I've got a ton of room for growth there.

Sunday: Push Press singles, other vertical push/pull stuff and triceps
Monday: Deadlift 5/3/1, assistance
Wednesday: Bench vs Bands 5/3/1, other horizontal push/pull stuff and biceps
Friday: Speed pulls, Squat 5/3/1, assistance

Re: Doug's Mile High Log

Didn't really do anything worth logging yesterday. Some walking, some pullups, some pushups, and some laying by the pool.

Re: Doug's Mile High Log

When I got to Denver I was diligent with GTG stuff, basically just daily pushups (max of 50 per day spread out in sets of 10) and 3-5 sets of 5 pullups during lunch at the pool. When I started to get worn down I basically stopped all of it. Not sure how much it was helping tbh. I did it a bit over the last week, basically randomly, just trying to keep the volume reasonable since I am supposed to be deloading.

I'm gonna be in Dallas in early September btw, any chance you'd want to golf/lift/eat bbq?

Re: Doug's Mile High Log

8-13

Push Press- 5 singles at 175

6 Rounds:
Pullups- BWx10
KB Press- 20kgx10 each arm
Rest- 2 minutes

4 Rounds:
DB Laterals- 22.5sx10
Thib Pulldowns- "60"x10
Rest- 1 minute

Band Laterals- Greens x 20 (50 seconds TUT) x 3
Band Resisted Pushups- 3 sets of 7
Close Grip Bench- 135x7x3
DB Skull Crushers- 22.5sx10x2 each arm

Elbows did not like the pushups so I will not be doing those again. Just close grip bench and random slow open chain extension exercises. Felt good to do an actual workout.

Re: Doug's Mile High Log

Despite feeling pretty good my workout was severely hampered because I only had about an hour to lift:

8-14

Deadlifts- 155x5x2, 225x3, 275x2, 295x5, 315x5, 335x10
HBBS- 135x10, 185x10, 225x10x3 superset with
KB Shrugs- 88x15x3
Good Mornings- 155x10x3

Later at home:
Ab wheel rollouts- BWx20x3 superset with
Crunches- 20x3

So I didn't get a chance to play with skittle bells or do a metcon =(. Deadlifts were easy for the first 6 reps, after which I started to get the tunnel vision until I stopped at 10. Was closer to passing out than I was to failing.

Re: Doug's Mile High Log

How do you do your KB Swings? I do mine similar to this

http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...17835396207887

Which looks more similar to the squat. But recently have been watching some videos and it looks like they have way less knee flexion and they look more like a deadlift. How do you do them? I personally think its a monster, in terms of fitting in with my goals so want to learn about them since I am going to be doing thousands of reps over the years. I also think I strained a lowerback muscle a while back doing the squatty version.

Re: Doug's Mile High Log

8-16

Bench vs Black Bands- 140x5, 150x5, 160x7

5 Rounds:
Incline DB Bench- 75sx5
DB Rows- 100sx10

5 Rounds:
DB Flyes- 25sx12
RD Flyes- Unweighted x 25
Rest- 1 minute

Squat Rack Curls- 95x7,6,5

DB Curl Drop Set- 5@40s, 35s, 30s, 25s each arm

Juuuust missed the 8th rep on bench a few inches short of lockout. Also didn't bother to time the rest on the first superset but they were all 2-4 minutes so no real accumulated fatigue. Middle back was still pretty wrecked from deadlifts and I've been having a pain under one of my shoulder blades so I took it easy on the RD Flyes.
