Doing multiple sessions a day of High Intensity Cardio -- Good or Bad idea? Doing multiple sessions a day of High Intensity Cardio -- Good or Bad idea?

Doing cardio in the anaerobic zone burns more calories, but obviously you get tired faster and cannot continue for long periods. So that got me thinking, why not just do 4 daily 15 minutes sessions of high intensity cardio? That will burn alot of calories. Generally, for weight loss people do low intensity cardio because they can do it longer without tiring... But why not use my idea???

Must be easy for Usain Bolt to train. Run 5 100 meters in under 10 seconds three times a week. That's only less than 3 minutes of training a week.

omg you cant be serious there is no way that usain bolt only trained for 3 minutes a week. get real he obviously had to do lots of hard work to achieve what he did.

This sounds a lot like Max-OT Cardio. You were to do 16 minutes of cardio and they recommended once in the morning and once if the evening iirc.

how is this at all related to my op?

my op is not about training, only calories burned.

Try and find out.

Extrapolating from theory rather than experience leads to folly in this realm.

Combine that with "cardio in the anaerobic zone" and I'm thinking you are headed for massive failure because your head is firmly implanted in your fourth point of contact.

Multiple workouts in a day are something you can work up to. Not having having life, work, family, helps. Four high intensity sessions a day, good luck.

If four is good, five must be even better!

I bet if I just sprinted up and down the beach all this weekend I'd probably have a six pack by Monday, right?

If you can do four HIIT cardio sessions a day you're either a professional athlete, or have no life at all, or aren't trying hard enough. I suspect most people would manage one, maybe two days of this before you were so sore / tired and possibly sick too that you didn't exercise for a week.

It ain't all about burning calories while exercising. The fact is I burn more calories at rest than couch potatoes. For the unfit HIIT cardio isn't possible. What are we talking about? 18 to 20 seconds for 100 meters?

ok. maybe i used bad wording. i dont know if HIT is some code for some super high intensity cardio.

what i meant was, i basically get on the treadmill and push as hard as can without passing out for 15 minutes... then do that 4 times a day...

do you think that is a better strategy than say, just exercising for one hour at a much lower pace?

i don't have to go to the gym. i am an online poker player. its hardly more time consuming except jumping in the shower for 30 seconds 3 more times a day.

why do people on this site always seem so angry, unhappy and confrontational?

why dont you just try it for a while and see? the human body is not an exact science. every single person in the world will tell you the perfect way that you should exercise or diet but they are all wrong. how about you do your routine for a couple of weeks and then tell us if it is a good program.

i dont think so because it would be too much. somebody mentionned something about getting ill and tired. I could see that happening, plus it's not "the more the better" when it comes to cardio for fat loss. there are fat people who run marathons.

if i were a fat ass, instead of doing high intensity cardio id put my energy into lifting and id just do some steady pace treadmilling for my cardio

If you want to lose weight, to become more fit, and to start using your treadmill, then we don't need a theoretical discussion that you aren't equipped to spur.

What you *can* do is spur a conversation about how *you* can lose weight, become more fit, etc. I hope you see the difference.

Whatever tidbits you've heard about HIIT & EPOC that have prompted your powers of abstraction to try to formulate an optimal strategy divorced from a specific individual has doomed you to hand-waving and wankery.

Permutations and combinations of society, leveling, defense mechanisms against trolling, self-righteousness, arrogance, and sometimes a genuine desire to help.

i tried pushing myself harder to burn more calories. i would do 1 session a day. just 1 a day, everyday. i found myself always tired, legs were always hurting. pushing yourself that hard will apply alot of stress to your body. the harder you hurt your body, the more time you need to recuperate. i found that hurting myself while exercising was no fun.

That's it. You need to be extremely fit before you can benefit from HIIT cardio. For beginners it's a no-no.

You are hyper-sensitive. Any criticism of your ill conceived plan is taken as confrontational by you.
