8 jerks with 2 32kg KB in 1:00. 15 jerks with 2 24kg KB in 3:00. 3 one-handed jerks with 40kg bell before I ditched it at the top when it felt like it would rip my arm off. Squats 70kg x 25 and 90kg x 15.

Coach wants me to train seriously for Girevoy Sport. He's top 5 in the world for his age/weight class so he knows his stuff, but cmon. GS is ****ing torture. He says I can get 60 2x32kg jerks by November and 100+ jerks in 18 months.

my jerk form is still sucky. keep getting my wrists in bad spots/ bent backwards.

I still have a load of stuff to purchase for my workouts. Any one have any good ideas of what weightlifting shoes to buy. Also I can't find any sites with smaller plates that will ship to Ireland.

Need some weightlifting chalk. Some posters of hot chicks for my home gym. A body fat callipers maybe. I know I am forgeting some stuff.

You dudes are cutting, I'll be bulking for the next 8 months I reckon at the rate I am going. I might slap my calories up to about 5000kcal a day and take the extra fat. I figure it would be about 50% fat 50% muscle. I find it easier to lose weight. Then I will reach my goal and never have to bulk again.

Depending on your goals, it's probably better to bulk up slower for 2 years and then see where you stand. 8 months is a short time.

Even if you don't make it, think of the benefits of trying. Especially with a coach like that. GS is ungodly studly.

there was a middle aged guy in my gym today who, judging from aesthetics only, probably had far and away the most brute strength of anyone in the gym.

so i see him at the only power rack with a bar, a 45 on each side, resting on the low part. i'm wondering to myself what exercise he could possibly be doing that doesnt require significantly more weight until i see him do some of the most ridiculous cheat curls ive ever witnessed. he was flinging his entire body into each half rep, instantly dropping the weight and then bending forward and hurling the weight up again, almost like he was doing an overhead stone toss or something. he gets like 5 "reps."

i assume, ok, that must have been his heavy set, ill get to use the rack soon enough. he procedes to do 4 more sets, with cross gym strutting and posing during rest periods, adding weight every time. by the last set, he was closer to doing cleans or deadlifts than curls.

then he doesnt take the weights off the bar. hafgisygkasgylsfdgiuas;lgkhasf;kmlbnsfa;kiyg

You can use chains instead. This site shows you how to. It's real easy, they'll cut the links for you at the hardware store.

There is a link regarding shoes in the FAQ.

yeah I hate cutting and don't ever wanna do that **** but I'm at the point where summer is coming and I am pretty close to being trim, plus a lot of my lifting is technique work and im gonna be traveling a little, so it seems obvious to just up cardio for a month and cut down on intake and try to drop a couple pounds a week and be done with it for years hopefully. just eat imo. You can't rush muscle gain.

When you say weightlifting shoes, do you mean heeled olympic weightlifting shoes? If so I've got the adidas ones that were like $300. They're awesome. I think there are cheaper ones for like $80, ironworks or something. I also heard one of the major companies is coming out with new ones for the 2008 olympics for the Chinese team.

Hmm I went from liking power cleans to hating them in one workout. Ever get over a bar and just get that feeling of "ugh this bar isn't hurting anyone whys it have to anywhere?" I got that every rep today Weird.

put on 8lbs in April, hoping to do the same in May

Eating everything in sight and sitting on my ass playing poker all day=weight gain

learn to whip your elbows around into the rack position while making the catch. I'm gonna guess your elbows are way down. if you can't fully whip them around to make the catch, don't make the lift. Otherwise you are gonna bang up your collarbone really bad. Eventually you will learn to dip down a little to bring the elbows around, and from there you can work on going lower.

cleans are one of my favorites too. There's no feeling like a new PR in clean and jerk, even better than deadlift or squat for me.

I don't know much about lifting shoes, I just saw in one of those Rippetoe form checks that he gave out to a guy for wearing running shoes. Do the proper shoes make much of a difference?

probably not worth it unless you are doing narrow stance squats or olympic lifts. It makes a pretty big difference for those though, helps stay upright and sit straight down into your squats

routine blood work...

total cholesterol 172

SHIP.

It's nice to have this after all of the criticism and disbelief I get from friends, family and girlfriend. Looks like this year long self-experiment was pretty successful.

criticism based on a high protein high fat low carb diet.... I go through about 2-3 dozen eggs a week, eat a lot of steak and chicken, fish 3x a week, tons and tons of vegetables, lots of grassfed butter, olive oil (I go through a bottle/weak), avocados, those are pretty much my staples...

Criticism and disbelief about what?

Also, is that cholesterol really that low? I don't really keep up on that myself, but that number for some reason made me think Hmmm. What's the level at which it starts to become too high?

edit: got beaten to it

Wow a bottle a week of olive oil is definitely a lot. I do six caps of fish oil a day though, plus drink tablespoons of olive oil, so I'm no slacker on the fats myself.
