OK, that's a helpful thing to remember. No jerking. Can do! ....hopefully.

Squat:
You are not standing erect-ish with the barbell on your back. You are bent a bit too far forward at the top of the lift and then when you go down you bend at the waist more. The problem is that your initial position has the bar a few inches in front of your mid-foot to start with, and then the forward torso lean just keeps it there. There's nothing wrong (actually it's how you do the low bars) with the forward leaning torso as long as the bar is balanced over the midfoot. I'm guessing you feel like you're on your toes. Just try to keep the center of gravity over the middle of your foot, in balance so you aren't on your toes, see if that helps.

Hang cleans:
The bar is moving waaay forward around your wrists as you go from the jump to the rack position. The bar should go fairly straight up, not as loopy as it is now, with the elbows rotating around the bar. Your arms shouldn't be imparting any force on the bar after the jump really, and I think that's what you're doing a bit here. Just let the momentum of the jump carry the bar up and try to whip those elbows around the bar quick-like.

Deadlift:
Yer yanking it off the floor. The bar moves forward away from the body right off the floor, which is bad. I think you just aren't set up tight. Read this:

Thing that stood out to me the most in any vid, and I don't think anyone has said this exactly: your elbows should point straight forward when you rack on the cleans. Yours were pointing straight down. That is why it was hitting your collar bone. When you point your elbows straight out you can catch the bar on your shoulders. It's tough b/c it takes a lot of flexibility in the wrist.

How is your grip on the cleans? It looks like you're gripping the bar tightly and moving the bar to your shoulders instead of gripping it loosely and rotating your hands around the bar. At the top it's ok to let go of the bar and just hold it with a few fingers so you can rotate your elbows around and get them to point forward instead of down.

Was going to mention that for the cleans as well but it got lost in the wash, your hands can open and you can receive the bar with your fingers and that should help get the elbows up for those with poor shoulder/wrist flexibility.

Re: hitting yourself in the collar bone. I've hit myself in the collar bone, throat, scraped my jewnose on eccentric part of the press, bloodied my shins DL'ing and brusied my thighs lowering weight after PCs. This stuff isn't easy, you're going to get dirty, and you'll need to get past that and accept it.

Heh, as a terminal klutz I'm used to this and accept it (I have a lovely scrape and bruised on my shin right now, not from lifting, but from getting into the shower.) But I wanted to find out if it was what was SUPPOSED to happen. Since, if it's not, then I don't have to accept it I can work on moving past it.

OK, looser in the wrists, and really jam those elbows forward.

Man, for the squats, I really hope I can get that bar lower. It just seems like my arms won't move like that! How long did it take a lot of you to get flexible enough to get the bar low enough?

For me, six to seven months to finally get the proper position. Some of that is because of contraindicated sports... and some is because I am stupid.

Google these mobility drills, do them a few times through out the day 10-20 repetitions and definitely do them before you lift in the gym.

shoulder band dislocations
scapular wall slides
band pull-aparts

I definitely have motivation to keep up to make sure I don't get outlifted by a n00b chick.

Those were some pretty solid starting weights.

hey kyle, i notice your knees cave slightly and take a kinda circular path upward from the bottom. is that something to focus on eliminating completely or is a bit of travel ok?

It's probably because my knees are pointed out too far - closer to 45 degrees than 30 degrees, as kidcolin noted somewhere. I am going to experiment.

I don't think this has been mentioned yet: don't walk out of the squat rack so far. This is a minor thing but you shouldn't develop a habit.

You just made Eurotrash's day. This was a criticism he had. I was like, wtf, focus on my form not how many goddamn steps I take. He, of course, hadn't been paying attention to my form that set. Oh well, that's why we have videos!
