Yep, that's the box. I have been there about 6 months maybe, and I have a really positive impression of it. I feel lucky that, imo, many criticisms of CF in general that I have read at various places on the internet don't seem to apply to windy city.
I have a little bit of a different perspective too, since twice a week I train there with a group that focuses on oly (7ontheline, who posts here, trains with this group too and has for longer than I have). The coach for this group is awesome. There are two other main coaches here as well (one is the owner), who are also solid. While I do not think any of them have coached for longer than 5 years, they take their jobs seriously and I can't criticize their coaching, from an amateur exercise nerd perspective, at least.
Just recently, they started listing all their programming on the web. Previously (maybe more than a couple of weeks ago) they either listed a strength movement or a metcon, but typically both were done each day. I think this is a major plus, as obv strength shouldn't be neglected. Additionally, the metcons are typically a good/short length, with longer ones 2-4x/month? Again, since I'm following different programming 2 days a week for oly, my perspective may be off a little.
So I guess in summary-
+ they don't neglect strength; important obv
+ offer oly classes/programming, which rules for me since I love that ****
+ coaches are solid, esp. oly coach
+ open gym hours twice a week (one on Thursday to do makeup WOD or skill work, one where you can do whatever on Sunday)
only negative? It's getting pretty popular/crowded some days. I don't think this has been an issue to date, but who knows what the situation will be next fall.
I'd check it out for sure, though.
