Re: jdock99's 90s weak log

Workout Tuesday 8/18/11

Did 2 days of NSAIDS and ice. Back felt a lot better today, but still not 100%. Hopefully it should be good to go in 2 more days.

Volume press
135x5x5
-not too bad, I think I am starting to get my swag back with this exercise. For whatever reason, 5-3-1 just wasn't cutting it, probably because I was taking too many 3-4 day breaks in between workouts and only doing Press once every 10-12 days wasn't cutting it.

Rehab squats
Worked up to 185x5x3
-Just wanted to test the waters a little. Back felt pretty good. If it keeps getting better plan is for epic 5x5 volume day on Saturday. I am already starting to part dread it and part get psyched up. Yeah budday.

Pullups
BWx3
+45x3
+70x3
+90x3
+90x2.5
+90x2
BWx15

-This is one exercise I think I am actually making progress in. Feels good, although not really making me any sexier when I oil up and flex naked in the mirror at night.

Well yeah. Foam rollers are for all the other days when you don't have access to thai women.

15 pull-ups (not chins right?) is good bro

Re: jdock99's 90s weak log

I cannot do 15 chinups.

My pullups are actually much stronger than chinups, which 70s big Justin says is actually normal for people who train their back (with chinups being easier for the untrained masses and curl/bench bros)

Re: jdock99's 90s weak log

Workout Saturday 8/20/11

-back feels fine, good to go

Squat
310 5x5
-This was quite difficult. I really cannot think of anything else that feels as horrible when you are doing it, but feels as awesome when it is over. In this respect it is pretty much the opposite of having unprotected sex with an attractive female of questionable virtues (or so I have heard).

Bench -recovery
185 3x5

Leg press
-wanted to do something that would hit the quads. I feel if anything I am too posterior dominant in lower body exercises and need some sort of balance, and leg extensions hurt my knees. Anyone have any idea of another good lower body assistance exercise that hits the quads good?

skull crushers

Aptly described. Second the front squatters, they're awesome. Also means you can stay away from machines.

I apologize for being a jerk.

Frontsquats, excellent idea. Since finally figuring out squats I have not felt retardedly uncoordinated lifting in a while, so I guess it is time to move onto the next thing. Good for the soul.

Re: jdock99's 90s weak log

8/23/11

Squat recovery
185x5
225x5x2
-tried some front squatting. Form was horrible. I am not really able to get in the rack position. Maybe I will try it with straps instead, or most likely just give up on the whole thing.

Press
155x4.fail
-failed 5th rep, was very disappointing. I have really stalled on this lift, going on like 1 year now. Even Miles can press way more than this, and he only deadlifts 315x5. Dark times indeed.

Push press practice
-first time I tried this in like a year. Felt very uncoordinated.

Neutral grip pullup
3x12

Abz

-next workout is going to be an intensity day squat or deadlfit, haven't really decided yet. it has gotten to the point where both these exercises take so much out of me it is hard to do fit in both. I do not know how those 70s big guys go heavy deadlift and squat on the same day all the time.

Re: jdock99's 90s weak log

Gonna take you very little effort to get into the rack position imo. Do some stretching and ****.

Solid burn.

Gear.

Miles, I kid because I care.

And yes, that lift (or lack thereof) was a definite disappointment, although I was definitely not feeling 100% that day. I hope to do 445 within the next month.

Re: jdock99's 90s weak log

i am jopkeing as well. if we did actually workout any time soon i would not change my slow and steady approach to getting back to world records. so you have about a month to have me take some weight off the bar to do my set.

Re: jdock99's 90s weak log

You could always try the hands crossed over thing for front squats if you can't hold it in the clean rack position.
