Sad thing is is alot less than I used to. I was proud I bought a 12 pack so would only drink 12 instead of buying a case where I probably would have had at least 4-5 more.

Could do that I guess, I do enjoy them. Funny though because if I buy budweiser its by far most expensive beers out here. Everyone else is drinking busch light and crap.

I also am ridiculously jealous of friends. I work out and run regularly. Roommate works out once or twice a week. For example today he ate Bunch of sugary cereal for breakfast. 4 hot dogs with buns for lunch. 2 open faced sloppy joes. Half a bag of chips. A whole little caesars pizza and a taco bell slushy. Thats more or less a regular day for him and he's lanky and skinny as ****.

Was proud however when they made a run to taco bell during half time of packer game I said I didn't want anything even though they offered since I'd driven to friends house roommate took my car. and didn't even have a beer there (maybe why they lost???)

somethings wrong with MFP cant get on site so i'll post that later but 1,581 calories for the day

Believing simplistic statements like that is what keeps fat people fat (the ones who try to get leaner).

Anyway I am not going to hijack Waffles thread. There is plenty of information about the "calories in/calories out" debate available online, we aren't going to break new ground here.

No worries, I like to see different points of views and different arguments. I find it interesting not a hijack and can continue!

Try not to pay attention to what other people are doing. There is a decent chance they are actually eating fewer calories than you think and of course, genetics do play a role. But there aren't too many special snowflakes who can eat 4000 calories a day and not turn into the Pillsbury doughboy.

Disagree. Its what gives fat people a chance to get to a healthy weight. This really is what it comes down to. We could go into lots of complicated arguments about how to be better off financially. However, we do well to remember that at the end of the day you will get richer if your income is greater than your expenditure, and you will get poorer if your expenditure is greater than your income.

There are a lot of 'persuasive' speakers promoting the Paleo approach, but however well they speak they won't be able to change the basic laws of science.

Yeah I try not too, but obviously see it all the time since its roommate, just us 2 live together and eat around same times... 1,500+ frozen pizzas almost every day. Some fast food, 4 sandwiches or so at lunch loaded with cheese and bbq sauce. 25+ frozen chicken nuggets or pizza rolls and stuff. He's one of the special snowflakes i think ahah. We were just talking the other day that once his metabolism slows down hes gonna get fat as ****

Also heres yesterday now that mfp is back up.

Also weighed in at 218.4 (lowest I've had since start) this morning, so I think was a bit bloated, or full of water after drinking the weekend/eating crap... and having not taken a crap.

No. Failing to learn fundamentals like calories in/calories out is what causes fat people who lose weight to put it back on. There isn't any real debate. Barring some really unlikely thyroid disorders, calories are king.

There is plenty of room to quibble about the margins on something like "a calorie is a calorie is a calorie" which is technically untrue but not in a meaningful way that is going to matter to a fat dieter trying to lose weight. But WHOA, to a fattie looking for ways to be lazy and not count calories these "truth bombs" get twisted into Oreo binges.

It is good to think about weight loss like a bank account. It isn't voodoo magic. You borrowed 3500cal/lb that you need to pay back by eating at a caloric deficit. Interest payments start with being physically less attractive but slowly escalate over the years to disease like the beetus, coronary disease, joint failure, and shorter life span. Pay that **** off now, the interest stops accruing.

What do you weigh? 150 is probably good, 100 is probably not as ideal. 180-200 is probably even better as I assume you weigh quite a bit.

A good rule of thumb is 1g per lbs of bodyweight - or lean body mass. So, if you're 200lbs and 20% bf then 160g-200g of protein is a solid rule. Going higher can't be bad but going lower could just be fairly suboptimal (but also probably not as bad as many in this forum think imo).

I don't really know **** about how much you "should" have but I've noticed personally that my compliance goes waaaay up if I get a high percentage of protein. Pretty hard to consider stuffing more food into your face if you've eaten a few hundred cal of beef jerky or 12oz of chicken breast or whatever. My basic strategy for every meal is to start with lean meat and vegetables, and if I'm still hungry, go from there. I almost never want anything after the meat/veg though.

People often think I'm going paleo because I don't really eat bread, rice, noodles, etc. I don't think there's anything wrong with those foods but I'm trying to solve an equation where the calories have to be under X and the protein needs to be greater than Y and the vegetables need to be more than Z. X is pretty small so to make this inequality work I have to cut out things that don't provide much Y and Z.

Protein above 100g is not really necessary but may be helpful to the goals you have. Protein is very filling and the body has to work much harder to burn it than with carbs or fat. It has to due with the thermic effect of food, which is the energy required for digestion, absorption, and disposal of ingested nutrients.
Approx calories used for each source
Carbohydrates: 5 to 15 %
Protein: 20 to 35%
Fats: at most 5 to 15 %

So you can eat a lot more calories of protein than you can of carbs or fat and not gain weight since you burn more digesting it.

Weighed in at 219 this morning. Like I said yesterday i forget what it was but on phone so can't check. 1700-1800 calories I think yesterday and was stuffed. Compared to a couple weeks ago. 1800 calories of bread/pizza/frozen foods and I woulda been starving, so have def noticed protein being more filling.

Also pretty pumped today benched 185 3x5 and finished 3rd set for first time. However random who was spotting me was a bit handsy. Said he didnt help but I'm not really sure. I'll see if I can do it next week!

Basically this. Carbs/Fats are pretty low as it is, and raising Protein will only up his goal total. For someone used to eating/drinking a ton, that day was v solid eating.

My sister walked onto college dive team (d3) after never having dove in her life. Her first meet was at my little brothers college and parents were out of town, so I went down to cheer her on. She was horrible, but pretty cool that she had balls to just pre season practice with them and try out with no experience. So was planning on heading down to iowa for that and about hour before I was going to leave my brother called and wanted me to come down earlier to meet his new gf because she'd be working by time i got there for meet. so left in a hurry didn't have time to eat lunch. got the chicken sandwiches at kwik trip fail. After meet brother and i went to subway. Was super tempted to get meal, chips are my weakeness but didnt and just got water. Also turned down free culvers at the meet they were passing out (not sure why). My mom had sent down a bunch of baked goods and stuff he gave me when I left, so ate the cookies/pumpkin bars and have alot left . Then was lazy and didn't want to cook and apartments a mess need to do dishes etc, so i heated up those 2 chicken patties listed at lunch.

Pretty much a complete fail of a day
