After 5 weeks basically not getting off parents futon except for physical therapy, and 2 super ****ty first weeks at school not being very mobile, I'm starting to not be in pain and be able to walk around the house at least.

Super out of shape, thinking it might be time to get back to the gym.

Are you cleared for gym? What are you cleared for?

You look happy on FB so you have that going for you imo, .

From workout I know I can bench/pull-ups/seated row/seated press/curls/lat pull down/tri pull down.

I'm not sure about planks/push-ups.

I know no squats, DL, db rows, facepulls.

So Id probably have to modify workout a bit.

No idea what I weigh. Scared to step on a scale. Was about 245 before surgery

ugh just wrote out super long post and internet ****ed up and lost it.

Basically i'm starting tomorrow going to gym and eating well. I cut up ingediants for greek salads for at least 3-4 days tonight for lunches, as well as made a pumpkin curry chicken in the crock pot. Will be done tonight to have for dinner next couple days. oatmeal with blueberries for breakfast. Cottage cheese, bananas and crab for snacks.

Goals for this week:
2057 calories/day
146 g protein/day
4 work out days and figure out how to change workout with things I can do
sleep 7-8 hours/night.

I didn't know that existed. Good call.

I have class at either 9:25-9:55 every morning. So I usually wake up between 8:30-9. Got up at 7 today and went to the gym before class. Feels really good even though lifting was pathetic after 3 months break. But at least I think I'll sleep like a baby tonight

I think I found a key thing for me for eating well. To make things Sunday to eat the whole week. (Pretty sure people had told me this in log but I was pretty stubborn and blah blah). I have no problem eating the same thing 3-4 even 5 days in a row. I think every Sunday I'll try to make something in crock pot or something that will last me dinners all week. And prepare things for lunches every day.

When Id have a long day that was like 7am-6:30 pm before I get home between gym and school. I wouldn't always want to cook every night. Tired and laZy. So it's easy on the drive home to want to stop for something or order pizza or Chinese or something. However if I have food there made its fine.

My other main problem before was alcohol. I think with depression things I drank to become more social or whatever. Or maybe just young college kid and liked to drink.

So not sure if just normal growing up or has to do with depression thing which has been a lot better with medication and being more open and not hiding it with close friends gf etc. But a lot of situations where I'd previously have 12-15-20+ drinks I find myself having 3-4 or sometimes even none and having a great time.

Example went to party 2 weekends ago with some close friends. About 10 people. They were taking shots and drinking games and such. Usually I'd have gone all out. But subconsciously only had 2 cocktails and 2-3 beers over about 6-7 hours. Had a light buzz (I think I'm a lightweight now) and had an awesome time with no hangover. I really think I can be successful this time.

Also I think before I was taking pleasure in making the plans and just having the intention of losing weight I was patting myself on the back. And telling people "trying to eat good blah blah". Now I feel confident enough I haven't really told anyone but dad (he's also trying to lose weight. He's about 250 and our plans are both to be under 220 by brothers wedding in July ) and I'm feeling way more happy with myself preparing and finishing the day actually eating well instead of what I'm "planning to do". Just have to focus on one day at a time

haha it might be, guess time will tell.

Can't get my dad to log what he eats and still seems to stuck on short term results (I weigh more than i did yesterday but i worked out and ate well)

Might remember that he was supposed to make a 2+2 account and start logging but then said it seemed like it'd be too much trouble

Long time no talk, but I have to try to get myself somewhat accountable so even if just me reading it, I can log somewhere.

I got married, tore my acl last 5 minutes of the wedding night. Had to wait about 6 months until surgery because of starting a new full time job, not being on parents insurance anymore etc. . I gained a ton of weight, I think maxed out around 285.

When they got into ACL for 7th knee surgery, there was a lot of other articular cartilage issues so the surgery ended up worse than expected. 7-8 weeks with no weight and no physical therapy. I'm about 12 weeks out and finally starting to get the strength back. Was cleared to stop wearing brace and go workout. Now it's all about strength. Leg press, body weight squats, calf raises, and hamstring curls.

Today weighed in at 268.4 lbs and had first day back in the gym.

Bench
Warmup
185lbs x 8 (Wanted to go safe since I hadn't lifted in 9 months or so, hoping to get at least 5, so pretty happy with that)

Incline DB Bench
40lbs 3x8

Pushups
8,5,5

Tricep Pulldown
65lbs 4x12

I also got diagnosed with sleep apnea. I've always been tired every morning, feeling worse waking up than I did going to sleep. So I finally got the studies done and got a CPAP. It is AMAZING! They said it could be a reason I had some difficulty losing weight at times. Its been about 2 weeks and I'm still getting used to sleeping with it, but I feel amazing, so much energy and focus at work, not as hungry etc. I'm pretty pumped about it.

I didn't follow through. At all. A couple days after last post wife moved back to the cities on short notice with new job. I started applying. Was a long summer, I tried to do 5 applications and new written cover letters a night, but probably averaged about 3. 160 applications and got 2 interviews, 1 offer which was probably in the top 3 jobs I applied for which is cool. Moved a couple months ago and finally getting settled.

Met some guys at work and started going to the gym there over lunch. I think it will be good for me. Morning/after work is hard for me motivation wise. Lunchtime I'm wide awake, have people come grab me from desk and carpool. I'll be getting back on the M/T/TH/F workout. Since out of shape I'm sure I'll be able to get some quick gains.

Monday- 12/11/17 278.0 lbs

Pull up assist- 90lbs 3x5. I'm too heavy I couldn't even get myself up to do a reverse pullup. So I know PU Assist isn't ideal. But will have to do until I get a little more strength, and get a little lighter.

Tuesday- Bench- 235 lbs 3.5 reps. Guy said he didn't help on the 4th, just the 5th. But I'm pretty sure he did more than he thought.

Deja vu yugo!

Thanks guys. Big thing is figuring out my diet I think.

I tried the keto type thing a couple times for a couple weeks-2 months was longest time. Really enjoyed it, but just so hard to stick with. If you try to do anything social. Go to a friends/families house for dinner and can’t eat things. It’s brutal. My wife still eats whatever she wants which makes it tough. She stays skinny and small but while im planning on having leftover chicken and veggies for the 100th time or whatever. She’ll decide to make waffles or pancakes for her. Which is just brutally a tease. Can resist 9/10 times and still give in. She’s less than half my size, doesn’t exercise at all and eats more calories than me. It blows.

Drinking was big source of issue before too in terms of calories. Just calories of a huge amount of beer/cocktails as well as drunk 2am second dinners and hungover junk food the next day as well. But not much of an issue anymore.

Have logging notebook at work, so not sure about Thursday's seated row day, but Friday was Bench- 185- 5,5,5,4,4

Although for some reason chest strength hasn't gone done as much as other, I can definitely tell a difference in endurance.

Have a family friend trying to get rid of a fatbike. Some guys from work go a couple times a week right by my house so thinking about splurging on it. Biking is the only real activity I can still do with knees, so would be good time to get out and about.

Food did great all week, between 1700-2000 calories a day with net carbs around 50-80. Went out to happy hour with coworkers Friday for 2 beers so just fit that into my calories. Went to inlaws Saturday night for games, offered to sobercab but I did have some holiday treats mother in law had made, but kept it pretty reasonable. Probably 2300-2500 for the day.

This was first full week workout I've had in quite a while. I've been only making it 2 usually before making excuses. Having coworkers go to workout with me I think will be good, no room to make excuses.

Not sure weight. Probably around same. But fairly consistent lifting except with days off from work. Can only go to the gym at work until February. Then can go to one near my house.

Today benched 235x5. Was looking back in log but on phone right now. I believe that is the my all time PR. Either way good progress was pretty pumped.

Worked out Tuesday as well. Wednesday headed off to Vegas until yesterday.

277 I believe when I weighed myself yesterday (not first thing in the morning like usual).

Today benched 245x4 and upped weights on most of supporting exercises. Really have to get back into logging full workouts and food. I think that helped me stay more accountable.
