If your goal is 529 I would go 440 485 529. If your goal is biggest total I would go with your plan

I'm expecting 436, 325 for the first two. 436 325 529 would get me to 1300. I'd be happy with that. 1263 if I miss 529 is ok. I kind of dont want to wind up with less than a 500 DL, so I want the opportunity for two cracks at 502 if I miss the first. I dont think I'd be happy with a 485 DL, and that might be likely if I go 440, 485, 529.

What you're suggesting does sound like what a lot of the strongest people in the meets I've been in say - save your energy.

Best of luck in the meet cha, excited to see what numbers you'll be putting up.

Have you considered getting calf sleeves to prevent the bar ripping your shins open? Or use the knee sleeves like I do.

yeah, I usually use calf sleeves when I train. They dont allow the sleeves in the meets, which is fine because when you do hit the knurling on them, there's friction. You have to wear long DL socks at meets. Those protect the shins somewhat, but at the meet I lifted at in August last year, we used my Ivanko bar and I ripped the **** out of my knee on my last DL. No big deal when it happens at a meet, but I'd hate to keep ripping open sores once a week training.

There are several weird rules like that. The strap on your wrist wrap cant touch the bar - that's one example.

Weighed in at 237.0

The feasting has begun. Two bottles of Gatorade, a bottle of Zipfizz, a Wendy's triple (with mayo) & an asiago ranch chicken club for lunch.

Weight now 241.4. Planning to be over 242 by tomorrow. **** day of the meet weight ins imo. I USPA early weigh ins.

Texas Roadhouse - buffalo chicken tenders appetizer, 16 oz ribeye with sides of salad, mashed potatoes & gravy, and a half-rack of BBQ ribs. Near went into food coma, but laid off the last half of the potatoes to avoid it I probably wont need to eat a late night snack tonight

It may be almost midnight here in Sicily but still up to get the bat-text from Cha. Put up a really nice squat (assume PR) at 457. Bench was 303 so I assume he went v safe on 1st attempt and biiig on 3rd but missed it. DL 529. Forget his meet PR on that but damn, solid as hell. Alllllmost 1300. I bet if bench was last he would have been able to hit it with a lighter 3rd attempt of 315.

Failed 325 bench twice. The 303 shot up pretty quick. I told my wife before the 1st 325 I thought I was ~75-80% to get it. I wasnt even close on either of the 325 attempts. I got no leg drive and my arms were not strong enough to get it past ~1/3 of the way up either time. That bench they use for these meets is wider and seems even lower than when I put boards under my feet with my bench. I need to figure this out.

yeah, Squat 2nd attempt was PR+11, 3rd was PR +33 over the last meet I did. I'm very happy with 457 - it was 5.5 more than I had intended to attempt before the meet, but the 435 went up rather easily, so I figured I'd bump it up a notch. 457 might have been all I was going to be able to do - it was hard. The squat bar they use is sweet - its fat and super solid.

DL was PR +5.5. It went up way easier than I was expecting prior to the meet. After the 507, I gave some thought to going a bit heavier than 529, but opted for a small PR. I definitely had some more in me. I absolutely love that DL bar. The knurling and the bend are nice. I forgot to ask the guy if it was an Okie - I think that's what it is. I hope they use bars like these in Vegas.

Figuring this all out now. If I had opened bench (or taken my 2nd attempt) at 314, I would have hit 1301 (590 KG). crap.

I got 3 white lights on 6 of the 7 and 2/3 white lights on the other. See if you can tell which lift I got a red light and why (plz look at the lifts, not the lights).

I really thought all 7 looked beautiful. I have no answer. Maybe I'll watch again later and retry.

(I looked away after each lift was done to avoid seeing the lights, so I dunno the answer)
