Re: -C-P- Early Bar Prep Log

Last law school class ever tomorrow.

I have an advanced tax law tax opinion letter due at 6:15. No clue wtf I'm doing tbh. Professor said if he was given the fact pattern by a client, total fees would be around $25k. There is no primary law on point. I have probably most of it done but am pretty stuck...basically trying to integrate a bunch of random cases with somewhat similar fact patterns.

Really hope I can squeeze in lifting by getting this done tonight. Hard to focus...keep on watching the Braves/Dodgers & Oakland/Boston games. My fantasy teams are just so awful right now.

Re: -C-P- Early Bar Prep Log

got the tax opinion letter done...was a huge piece of ****. Got a quick workout in. I didn't have time to do PCs.

Squat
270x5x2
270x5

Overhead Press
140x5x2
140x8

I think my squats look a little better. I might be exaggerating sitting back too much to begin the movement. I'm interested to see what other people think.

Got my bar prep books...42 lb box. At $3,000 total, that's only $71.42/lb!

Yeah I was trying to break hips a little earlier...I was afraid I over did it though. Thanks for the tip.

Re: -C-P- Early Bar Prep Log

4/22: My 5 year anniversary with my wonderful wife.

Squat
275x5
275x5
275x5

Bench Press
215x5
215x5
215x11

Pullups
BWx3x6

Squat form looked a lot better to me this time around. I can't wait for my belt to get here from Inzer.

The bench vid doesn't look very helpful...thought my form sucked on that set. Brought my elbows in closer to my body on the third set and it felt waaaay better.

Re: -C-P- Early Bar Prep Log

4/25

Squat
280x5x2
280x5

Overhead Press
145x5
145x5
145x8

Deadlift
325x5

This is the first time I've posted a DL vid before so I'm interested in some feedback. Please ignore the second rep as grip gave out before I locked out. I really don't feel like I DL frequently enough...considering DLing Friday again depending on how I feel.

Press continues to be pretty easy...was planning on microloading next workout but now I'm not too sure.

Re: -C-P- Early Bar Prep Log

4/27

Squat
285x5x3

Bench Press
220x5x2
220x11

Chinups
BWx3x5

Felt horrible on the squats. Back was still kind of tired from DLs...I hope thats why.

Bench press was so easy=we're going to the combine next Monday.

Got Mean Ol' Mr Gravity by Rippetoe and Never Let Go by Dan John in the mail today. First, I have to read "Bossypants" by Tina Fey. Yep, I'm ghey.

Re: -C-P- Early Bar Prep Log

4/29

Shaved off my beard. Big mistake.

Squat
290x5x3

Overhead Press
150x5
150x5
150x7 (around rep 6.5 I i realized I forgot to put belt back on)

Power Cleans
150x3x5

Chinups
Throughout the day I GTGd chinups, did BWx3x7

I'm considering switching over to GSLP soon. I really wanted to get to 3 plates before LP stopped. Not sure if I'm going to make it. I've gained BW quicker than I thought I would and will be adding some conditioning work in so it'll start looking GSLP-like anyway.

Re: -C-P- Early Bar Prep Log

nice work!

DL - When you get to the top, stand up tall (not back farther), and squeeze your butt checks together. Hump the bar, but do not lean back.

What you're doing is common for people who have weak &/or inactive glutes, which is most people new to DLs.

(you might have seen me post that before in other threads - a lot of people do that same thing)

Also, make sure the bar is on the ground before you let your back start to round.

All in all, pretty good imo. It looks like you could do a lot more weight.

Re: -C-P- Early Bar Prep Log

Thanks...I knew I had read that one before. I'll definitely focus on that.

I'm pretty inexperienced at deadlifting so I need all the help I can get. I think I just need to let gravity do its work on the way down.

Started GSLP today. I haven't reset my squat but its coming. After the 1st set, it took 110% WIM not to quit b/c I didn't think I was going to make the second set. 3rd set felt like I could die.

AM:
Fasted Walk: 30 minutes
Burpees: 3 x 10 (:26,:29,:30)
Chinups Ladder: BW x 1, 2, 3, 4, BW x 1, 2, 3

PM:
Bench Press: 225x5x2, 225x10
EZ Bar Curls: 45x15x2 (first time I curled in @ 2 years)
Squat: 295x5x3
