-C-P- Early Bar Prep Log

This will be my log for as long as I can maintain it. In May, I finally graduate from law school and want to be leave school the same way I entered it--at 205 lbs.

On January 1st, I weighed in at 245 lbs. That day, I made an agreement to my wife (and myself) that I would get down to 205 lbs by the time I graduated in May. Since then I've been on a calorie deficit and have managed to get down to somewhere between 217-222 lbs (hard to tell b/c of recent refeed). I basically started started doing the Rapid Fat Loss diet and HIIT-type training for the first couple weeks and then shifted to a more reasonable deficit and SS workouts to maintain strength. Anyway, I'll be logging my workouts plus progress in here for the homestretch. I am getting a little itchy to start eating at maintenance/surplus again and gaining strength soon. I'm probably going to take a full break next week to recharge the batteries and really start pushing it.

Re: -C-P- Early Bar Prep Log

Walked by my work's gym today and found out that they added a Concept2 Rower so I rowed 5,000 meters at lunch. First time I've ever used a rower...I assume 25 minutes is below average but whatever.

After work went to gym:

Foamrolling
5 minutes on bike warmup
20-25 minutes waiting for some guy doing 3 variations of horrible squats. I think they were high bar, sumo, and jump squats but they were all pretty much terrible.

Squat
2x5x230 (hard)

Overhead Press
3x5x120 (easy)

TGUs: 5L/5R x 20kg
Ab roller: 2x10
Birddogs: 2x10

Was going to do power cleans and chinups but I tore a blister on my hand and filed it off...tried lifting but it sucked a little bit.

Saturday Morning Workout

BW: Staying steady at 218.

Rode bike for 5 minutes.

Squat
2x5x235

Bench
3x5x200

DL
1x5x305 (3 OH grip, 2 mixed)

Worst bar for deadlifting ever. Knurl was excruciatingly painful. Forgot iPod and had to listen to salsa music for 45 minutes while "Zumba" class was going on.

Re: -C-P- Early Bar Prep Log

Yay for week off calorie restriction...haven't decided if I'm going to a 1 or 2 week break yet. Leaning towards a 1 week break though depending on how I feel and how much weight I gain.

Monday Evening Workoug

Foamroller
Rode Bike for 5 minutes
Mobility + lacrosse ball (I don't think I'm doing the left rotator cuff correctly with internal/external rotation...either that or I have no flexibility in that shoulder)

Squat
240x5x3

Overhead Press
125x5x3

Power Clean
135x5x3

Farmer's walk: 85lbs x 2 lengths of gym

Got a big tax law memo due Wednesday night...not sure if I'll be able to make it to the gym till Thursday.

So sore today...adductors have super bad DOMS. Time to work on a ridiculous tax memo.

Last edited by -C-P-; 03-15-2011 at 08:34 PM. Reason: always get abductors/adductors mixed up

Nice job man. I am a 3L and am also graduating in May and taking the Bar in late July. Good luck to us! Solid numbers....I did SS for a bit and started Texas Method recently. Keep it up!

Thanks...good luck to you, too. Do you have a job lined up?

Unfortunately I'm starting to cut this week so it'll be interesting to see how that affects me.

Unfortunately not man haha. Market sucks and I need to be a little more active in searching than I have been. How about yourself? Plus I'm going to win the lottery so it doesn't even matter.

Gl with the cut! Grind it out man.

Not a "law" job...I can't even get an interview right now. It's just ridiculous!

I've worked for a financial services company for the past 6 years though so worst case scenario I'll stay there. They're looking at getting me a job in their compliance/legal dept but I'm a little hesitant about it...there just won't be too much in the way of training.

Re: -C-P- Early Bar Prep Log

Tuesday workout:

foamrolling
5 min on bike
lacrosse ball/mobility

Squat
255x5x3

Overhead Press
135x5x3

Power Cleans
140x5x3

Was a grind today. I felt like I couldn't get loose. Will be doing some kettletarding later tonight since I'm supposed to be cutting.

Fantasy baseball draft is Thursday night at my house so I'm not sure if I'll have time to workout or not. I don't think the wife will want to get ready for 12-14 guys without me.
