I didn't graduate high school, attended community college at age 30 without graduating, then majored in mathematics at University for a while also without graduating.

$18k in student loans and not a single degree. I can't even get transcripts because of ****ed up bull****.

are congratulations generally in order for merely finishing your thesis?

I was saving mine up for news of actual Masterments

Oh word! I really don't have anything against hating, anyway. I figure you're not a true bro until you hate at least 98% of the time.

Pull out my police scanner app to listen (I feel like this is a really redneck app for some reason. I don't really care it's awesome for this sorta thing). Confirmed shooting, one ambulance not enough, they ended up calling to barricade off the whole street perpendicular the street we were on. Apparently it was 2 buildings away.

Just left a little bit ago and place was still a zoo of cops and ambulance

Part-time community college at 22
Finished Undergrad in Math at 26

Might go back for a PhD tho if I ever figure out what I want to study.

Nice!

Wait....don't we just talk about non-lifting stuff in here? I get confused which thread I'm in much of the time.

Bam. True renaissance man imo. This guy does it all. Only thing missing is DEL status and actual 32" waist.

I thought we told you that you were too dumb to post here anymore. Go back to your job at McDs, dummy.

Well now you're just fishing for compliments. For optimal defense of your thesis I recommend practicing your "DYEL stare" when chumps in the audience ask you questions.

Similar situation. I spent far too long at community college before realizing it was a waste of my time. It was rough to go back to school later on while still jerbing, but now that I am almost 100% able to work from home, EZ game.

We only talk about lifting or lifting related topics. This post is semi-related to lifting, so we will let it slide.

Working on it, bro. Soon the Golden Rhymes will be to the Golden Loco as the Academy Awards are to the Golden Globes.

Not fishing for compliments, just noting how cold H&F bros can be.

I don't have research experience in anything, but I'm debating between Financial Math, Stats (not math lol), or give it all up and go for Low-dimensional Topology.

Seriously though. H&F is a thremp-free zone (mainly) so must be like 500x nicer than it used to be.

It's just a heavy trolling zone, but everyone here has a heart of gold.

Except Snitch. What an Australian c*nt.

I've always been partial to high-dimensional topology. Maybe just me though.

I was pretty interested in math as an undergrad, but my impression was that outside of becoming a financial quant or going the actuarial route, the opportunities available that allow you to actually feed yourself are relatively limited (at least if you stay in strictly academic fields of study). Is that not the case anymore?
04-11-2013 , 02:22 PM
Busto what's your masters in?

I'm applying for actuary jobs, so evidently not

You can also be underemployed/live in parents' basement if you don't want to go the strictly academic route.
04-11-2013 , 02:24 PM
Not my experience monty. I have a math degree and I think it's widely accepted in the job world that math majors are good with anything analytical. Companies always need ops people who know excel/access for instance. There's also contractors and IBM types that do "problem solving" stuff. Those companies like math majors for a whole host of reasons. You can't just always hire engineers and comp sci majors.

Also, as you know, comp sci is like 10-15 credits off a math degree at most unis.

Brah these people are interested in knowledge and education, not jubes. Please take your capitalistic propaganda back to the Young Objectivist Society and gtfo.

Whatever you do, don't go to law school. If you for some reason end up at law school, do not under any circumstance sit for the bar. You'll end up subject to all kinds of far too restrictive ethics rules.
