Sweet jesus I've seen you pop in my log a few times so I decided to take a look at yours. You are insanely strong, especially for 172 lbs. How tall are you? Teach me to be strong please.

It was about time i started one of my own, given my propensity to chime in in others! At least they can come in here and criticize as necessary. I am 5' 9".

You're well on your way yourself. Consistency is key!

Played some pick up soccer this afternoon, conditioning was woeful but had some nice touches. Did some conditioning work after getting home with my sandbags.

Just to add some clarity to this log. You guys do realize those number are pounds, not kilograms??

Anyways, great squat progress and good progress overall, but I am sure Aidan would agree the hyperbole is a little out of control.

He squatted 2.21xbw for a set of five. That's not considered insanely strong? How long have you been lifting Aidan?

Sorry, 2.22 is the cutoff. Close, but well, you know the rest.

Ladies, please, there is plenty of my sexy thighs and unimpressive chesticles to go around! I'm pretty happy with the squat, but the rest of my lifts need to do some catching up, and even then it depends on whose criteria you use to define strong - i don't think i'll ever be "strong" by Jim Wendler and Paul Carter's definition!! But not bad for ~16 months of lifting.

May 21st: Volume Day

Squat: 335x5x5
Press: 130x5x5
Powerclean: 155x3x5 (vid coming)

Curlz: sets of five at 65lbs

Something of a milestone. 335lbs was the weight that I stopped linear progression on, so nice to get there and do five sets. ****ing hard work though.

Nicely done taking quotes out of context breh.

I think the PC's are purrty good. One thing to work on, you're jumping backwards to catch, I would just work on making sure you dont have to chase to catch the bar (backwards or forwards). Backwards is def better than forwards, means you're on heels which is good, but I think as we get heavier it will you throw you off balance when catching.

I definitely struggle with the footwork. Sometimes my right leg shoots to the side, and I get off balance like you say even at this weight. Just got to keep greasing the groove to be more consistent. Thanks for the feedback!

I struggle with that too..."football cleans"...not THAT bad, but still wider than optimal. Really bad in catching my snatches. I think the only way to break the habit is to practice foot work pre/post cleaning so its fresh in your head and translates to work sets.

I wish I was better at catching snatches.

23rd May: Recovery

Squat: 265x5x2
Bench Press: 155x5x3
Chin Ups: 10, 7, 7

Finished with some ab roller, cable rows and good mornings. Did the snatch complex with just the bar as a warm up to the squats, feels like the snatch balance is ok but the overhead squat is frustratingly hard. Fun though! Would love to become proficient at these...

One of those workouts where WIM was low going in, but came out feeling a million bucks.

25th May: Intensity

Squat: 385x5
Press: 147.5x1+fffuuuuuu, 135x1x3, 125x3
Deadlift: 340x5

Press was supposed to be a 3rm, knew it wasnt going to happen warming up with 135. Squats were ok, lost the last one slightly forward but got it up. Deadlifts were fine as well, except left hand grip is terrible. Will use straps in future more i think.

Played some pick up soccer yesterday after work for the second time after a big layoff for the winter. Still have above average vision and awareness, but my first touch has gone to crap. Also lost my defensive WIM, my brain is still saying "that's your guy!", and the legs are all meh. Keep working at it.

Also managed to teach my buddy a passable hang clean, after a few weeks of not making much progress. His receiving position was all wrong, now he's pretty competent. Feels good, man.

Went for a big walk to the track, but there was a high school meet on. Watched a little of that and then found a hill to run some sprints up. Surprisingly fine, given it was the first time doing it fasted. Nice day out as well, got some ice cream as a reward
