Bench is looking pretty good. Keep working on keeping your back tight and your setup tight.

It is? We have a full PL comp set, two eleiko comp oly bars and a training bar. The two guys that run my gym trade as a manufacturing company and they made the rack.

Thanks, noted. It kinda rolled forward a bit right at the bottom, but I think it was partly due to it being the first time using a slingshot for a while. I like it a lot better than mid pin press though. I should have made the switch earlier.

5th June: Project Momentum Week 7 Day 1

Squat
205x1

Bench Press
127.5x1

Sumo Deadlift
220x1

Squat felt a bit hard, but otherwise feeling pretty good. Left plenty in the tank on deadlift.

Aidan what do you think of Jeremy Avilla's sumo DL form?
https://www.instagram.com/jeremyavilla/?hl=en
Was also the dude on that supertraining video where he had babs (back abs)

I've been trying to get my tibulas verticle in both planes, but I just don't like it. It feels awkward and like I'm having to like manually que each part of the movement and it's not as powerful as when I angle them out a bit.

I don't really know. Lots of guys pull really well like that. If it works for you then go for it (though I do think shins vertical from the side is very impt)

Very nice! How big of a PR is that for you?

I hate the feeling that I left something on the platform. There is always the next meet though.

Why two piss tests? I really hate IPF/USAPL for lots of reasons. Many of their favorite lifters never get tested and they pick on others. I knew a guy who was clean who was a good lifter (not great) who got tested in five consecutive meets. He had enough and quit USAPL and went to USPA.

Congrats Aidan.

Is it not mandatory for all medalists to piss test?

Also, lol getting mad at being tested.

I dunno, having some stranger watch me piss into a cup in person isnt an activity I am into. They are supposed to test a small percentage of people, something like 10% iirc. If that is the number, what are the odds of being picked 5 times in a row? I dont think they necessarily test medal winners. I think its supposed to be random, which is why some of their "stars" never get tested.

Pretty ****ing high. Even people well versed in math **** up sequences in randomness, the least shocking thing is a bunch of meatheads having a poor grasp of randomness and probability.

If you're already at the facility and wanna participate in a tested comp, gotta deal with it. Kinda like if you wanna play pro tennis, you might have to show up at a facility with 24 hours notice. Just the way it is.

That is all true. There are other options here in the US than USAPL though. To each his own.

Actually, it appears it isn't random. So ya, it seems pretty path dependent that once you get on the radar, you'll probably stay on. (Atleast assuming there isn't some Russia level testing conspiracy going on, since sport committees are super on the up and up.)

Nice find. So they are upfront about being selective.

The complaints I heard are not clear in my mind anymore, but they are something along the lines of this: lifter A is a USAPL star who breaks WRs and such. He has never been tested despite competing for many years. Lifter B is a guy who performs fairly well at local meets, but his totals are fairly consistent and he is not anywhere near breaking national or WRs. His totals are not even high enough to qualify for nationals. Lifter B gets regularly tested.

In addition to this, I know of one former USAPL/IPF star who is dealing with severe health problems currently that are consistent with abuse of certain steroids - my understanding is that the fast acting ones cause his issues to happen. I dont know a lot about this, but someone who does explained this to me once a while ago. I think he broke multiple national and WRs and probably won some national and world championships. I'm not going to say much more about him because I dont want to expose who he is. I'm pretty sure he never popped positive on a test and I have no idea if they ever tested him or not.

If you get into a discussion with someone who is more knowledgeable than I am on the subject, they can explain it better, but that is my general understanding.

It is certainly ripe for abuse and the arbitrary nature of selection does lend more credence to the claims of it being abused. But lol PLing. Clearly we need something that can't be abused like biometric passports or Olympic level testing.

+1 on the congrats

Didn't seem like he was mad, seems like he was just telling us what happened. Could be wrong though.

If I was competing in USAPL/IPF and got picked to be tested once, I would not mind, but if I got picked 5 meets in a row or twice at one meet, I'd probably be pissed.
