yeah, got to remember to keep tight all the way down, that last plunge ruins my tightness.

April 22nd: Project Momentum Week 10 Day 3

So a very solid day - all time PR on squat and deadlift, and tie on bench press.



Slight downside is I probably weigh 85kg - just figured out my scale at home weighs over a big range depending on where on the floor it is. Cut starts monday - goal is to hold on to this total while cutting 5lbs in six weeks for comp.

Congrats - strong lifts!!

You have more in you for squat and bench for sure. Squat - get your belly coming forward a little sooner out of the hole. Bench setup was a little loose and your back was a little loose. DL looked great.

Thanks for all your help, Cha.

On the squat you can see me get my knees back forward a bit and the weight starts moving properly, and I think it was even more pronounced in the 225 attempt. I need to keep working on not letting my hips shoot back and getting the hips moving forward.

Bench is still a work in progress, particularly getting the feet forward and heels down without losing tightness.

Deadlift... man, I think I have a shot at the 255 if I have my head up and my weight back a bit more. I'll keep working on it.

Day 1: 2105 calories, 171g protein - decent enough start, but no room for a beer and relying a lot on whey. This suggests that I'm getting enough at about 150g/day so I've got a bit of wiggle room if I want to drop some of it out for something else.

Day 2: 2154 cals, 175g protein - too high on fat, could send some into carbs. Once this lamb leg meat is done I'll pick up something leaner. Less whey today though.

Back to work. Sumo felt pretty tidy, except for one rep which I lost forward just like I did the 255kg attempt. I need to be a bit more diligent/less sloppy on the rep work. Bench felt really good too, surprised myself with the 120 rep so went. Did facepulls between the sets of split squats.

230 looked easy. Start focusing on pulling everything faster now.

Did you see Belkin's 410 KG (904 lbs) sumo pull from the other day? He beat Ed Coan's 26 year old record of 901 @ 220. The only place I can find the video is on FB or I'd post it.

I found it:



Aidan, and anyone else looking at this who pulls sumo, I think you should study every detail of this lift that you can.

The immediate things I notice are his setup:

- head position (Aidan, notice where his eyes are looking - up at his high total, not down on the floor at a low total)
- tension in the bar before the weight leaves the floor
- arms and shins are vertical

Yeah, I've been admiring that pull. I don't think I'll ever have his hip mobility, but I can definitely work on it more than I am. Those vertical arms

Speed of the pull is definitely something to work on too. I need to write myself a little crib sheet or something and stick it to my shelf at the gym.
