Match report!

Much of the same. Solid win. 6-0 season. I played most of it. Fitness actually feeling ok. Few carries. Few tackles. Lifted at the front of the line out, stole two throws. Did concede one penalty for a dumb leaving my feet ( imo there was no ruck formed, so whatever).

I'm feeling ok with my game, coach seems happy. Everyone seems surprised I can even forward after 10 years in the backs , but I feel I can get better. Especially in defence. I need to dominating contact more. I basically always just chop low... but, meh. Always good to have someone doing that I guess. And all that said, not kidding myself here, if we had more actual forwards, I would be on the bench\dropped.

Match report(s)!

Match 1!

Got a message from the 3rd grade coach asking me to sit on the bench as a utility back, I said "aight". Then got a message this morning saying I was starting. I said "lolz". lol 3rd grade rugby.

Played at outside centre, played the whole game (save the five minutes I was off getting my ear taped back onto my head), probably one of my favourite spots. I had an ok game, although I was literally hanging on by my fingernails in defence against their outside centre who was 20kg heavier and a few inches taller than me.

I did pull of a massive shot jamming their inside centre. Blindsided, good timing... but I somehow tore my ear in that tackle. The medic said "that's an interesting one" when he taped it up. When I finally got to a doctor, the nurse said "that's a strange one" and then the doctor said "wow, that's interesting". So I have a small split on the top of my ear, but a big tear from top to the bottom of the back of the ear (where it joins the scull). Anyway, apparently they have some magic glue which they use on "non gaping" splits these days, so that was fun.

I also scored a try. We had a biiiig blind side with a two on two. I really just wanted to put our winger in space because I was sure he had the footwork and speed to get around his winger. I called the ball from the open side. Planned on drawing my defender (the aforementioned monster centre) and their winger and put our winger away... but the aforementioned monster centre didn't even have the speed to match me, their winger stayed on our winger, and I just sliced through. Pretty nice.

We ended up losing 20-12. It was two tries each, but they kicked two penalties. We gave away heeeeaaaps of penalties and our scrum got f*cking demolished. I'm pretty sure their front row was like 400kg.

Match 2!

I was (obviously) pretty f*cked by the time this rolled around, but I started at "prop" in a non-contested scrum (lol 4th grade rugby). I was honestly pretty ineffective, but our 4th grade team is fisting everyone, and this was no exception.

I basically subbed myself off at the end of the first half and we went on for another bonus point win. 27-12... five tries to two... our kicker is having a shocking season.

4th grade is now 7-0 with 35 points. Historically, you can probably make the finals in this comp with around 32 points, so I think we're looking good here.

I don't even lift anymore, but Mrs. Snitch sent me a form check today. Looks aight to me. She's been complaining that her dead is lagging behind her squat, I said the first rep looks like she could easily pull another 10-15kg. This is also the video debut of her sick new belt.

I got her the 3" 10mm from best belts (suggested by Aidan). It took for f*cking evvvverrrr to arrive, but it is nice as f*ck. Also, they seemed to be the best option for 3". I always tell her 3" 10mm thick is more than enough.

Ah, it's good to be posting again!

I should probably just abdicate this log to Mrs. Snitch...

What's with the long pauses between reps? Thought I was watching in slow motion at first.

And please do!

You can hear her being cued on a bunch of different things prior to each rep, SM

Nope, no cueing. That was just some other random in the gym.

...wait... or is this some N+1 level troll on my nitty coaching, inferring that even when I'm not there, she can hear my cues?

Match report!

Standard. We were pretty confident going into this one. We rested some of our "star" players (i.e. not me) and still got a big win. We've just got ridiculous depth for a 4th grade team. In the ~10 years I've been playing at a club, I've never played in a low grade team with this much depth.

Personally I was aight. Started at #8. We seemed to defend for a lot of the first half, so I made a lot of tackles. I'm still missing something in defence though. I think I was slightly more aggressive in contact (which is something I've wanted to do more), but I think I was just going in to high. I think if I could combine that level of intensity with a bit better technique, I would be doing much better.

And omg I went to the gym. Mrs. Snitch is on a but of a gym heater and really wanted to go, so I'm like "well, f*ck. i guess I have to go".

deadlift: 3x140
press: 3x3x60
bb row, rfess a bunch of super light reverse and regular ez bar curls and facepulls.

Glad that I can deadlift with no issues. Press and row give my elbow a *slight* tightness, but nothing too bad. Same with the curls, but someone said they might be good for rehab, so I'll try them out for a few weeks.

Side note: For those following Snitch\3\1 programming at home, the three week reset is an integral part of the program to ensure you never significantly surpass the two plate, three plate, four plate milestones on the big three.

And here's Mrs. Snitch being way better at squatting than me.

If it is not an issue with flexibility and what not, I would suggest her to squat deeper.

Judging from the bar placement, movement patterns, rep timing and tempo... yep... that's a Snitch Squat right there.

The only difference is she squats more weight.

We've tried lots of things and this is the current manifestation.

I think a lot of it stems from terrible ankle mobility (lol high heels for life), so a relatively vertical shin and relatively low bar was the compromise there.

The depth is a product of finding a depth where we almost eliminate any chance of buttwink, and that was a focus as a precaution against some low back pain she had for a while.

I get there are a range of mobility things she could try which might improve these form points (and she has periodic defecation to mobility... but ain't no one got time for that), but is it worth it for a 30-something woman who just lifts to be generally active and assist with aesthetics?

I would probably never do mobility work in this instance.

I think it's improving. For example, this one from December is more over-extended and "buttwinky" to me. And this one from waaaay back is super over-extended\buttwinky.
I made this post a while back which shows some evolution of her squat. I think today looks better than either of them tbh.
