Would you say Floyd is stuck in the mud?

Safe to say he doesn't tink like Conor tinks, either.

JT,

Conor trives when everyone is against him, I don't know if tis will even go tree rounds!

Funny **** El D. I am so hoping for a good fight, but Floyd is going to start clowning him right? Conor will be hitting air early unless he just hits the jackpot and then it will be like oh ****...

Are we at peak circus yet??
07-14-2017 , 03:05 AM
I was expecting to enjoy this for the circus it is but the world tour is absolutely terrible.
07-14-2017 , 03:07 AM
Was there anything else to expect?

What the **** are world tours anyway, pretty lame stuff.
07-14-2017 , 03:56 AM
The Toronto stuff was solid, but Brooklyn was even worse than LA, seemed like both guys just mailed it in and crowd was kinda dead.

This feels like two guys doing scripted routines with no interaction. I had no idea what to expect going into it, but something more along the lines of the LA press conference (with Mayweather Sr). That was decent.

That NYC presser looked like a 1 act play directed by Charlie Sheen.

"Form Voltron...YYYYEEEEEEA...YYYEEEAAAA...YYYEEAAAAAA!"

That may have hit a higher WTF value than the literal circus Floyd had in one of his walk-outs a few years back.

That was ..interesting(?), liked how the tall guy in the blue suit looks super serious.

Just realized that Eminem looking dude that ran in there with Conor's striking coach at 17 seconds is Dillon Danis.

Yeah, the part around 1:15 where Conor and Floyd are walking back and forth beside each other, there's clearly no animosity, they're not even paying attention to each other! Its more 2 performers just trying to get their bit off....

Eddie Alvarez vs Justin Gaethje tuf 25 coaches. Meh. Hate them as coaches. Fight is ok, will be fun to see Eddie get destroyed.

Curious they aren't doing the Poirier rematch. I wonder if they're gonna treat it as a Poirier win? Which they obv should.

Also Joe Duffy Re-signed. Definitely seemed like he was going to Bellator.

i thought gaethje was a young up and comer?

The best comp that no one is making is Mousasi in kickboxing.

He had 4 kickboxing matches and got a fight with the K1 champ due to his MMA acclaim. Beat him via decision, I believe he was a small fave if memory serves. Small dog at worst.

That K1 champ was fortunate the same way Cejudo was to win his gold medal where he was a dog most of the way through. It's not like he was Badr Hari. So I admit it's not apples to apples with Floyd.

I probably shared this before, but the point that opened my mind up to Conor was a clip on tuf talk that got cut from the show itself of artem talking about Conor. He said that when he was out injured for about a year he still came to the gym and just watched everyone. When he finally was able to spar again he wrecked the whole gym the first day.

Maybe he is a true literal genius in fight iq, not simply talented but a savant. Could he possibly solve floyd by taking a different approach than others who just tried to beat him with boxing skill, talent etc? I doubt it highly, but my track record of doubting highly with this ****er has not served me well.

Still doubt it ****ing highly.

He fought Nate Diaz, gassed after eight minutes and got KOed with punches. Then he had ten weeks putting together the most expensive camp in MMA history to train just for Nate Diaz, gassed after eight minutes, almost got KOed by Nate Diaz and escaped with a draw.

Some genius.

I see this point, believe me, but the flip side I can't believe I am presenting is he got beat soundly by Diaz who really is a nightmare matchup with his cardio and chin, and came back to eek out a win. I am on record ****ting on the Aldo victory at the time, but the subsequent performances kind of reinforced the possibility that it was by design more than just luck.

I still feel like he has mostly avoided tougher match ups, and it is ridic to say this is a good match up for him in this format in any way shape or form. If he does it though? Fluke? Luck? Fix?

Truth is I am pretty uninspired by anything else going on so I have to try to make this interesting.

Given the relatively low level of BJJ, wrestling and MMA striking expertise there is in Ireland, its almost a certainty that Conor's unique fighting style signifies an extremely high fight IQ. Whether thats true or not for most dominant champions is another story....

I mean a huge part of his success is obviously his physical attributes and athleticism. His insane reach is a huge part of his success, as is his power and speed. Also his timing and accuracy. It's not like he's out there beating people with beautiful game plans etc. He does the same thing every fight, most people just can't stop it because he's too fast, powerful, long, and his timing is too good.

I don't think his adjustments in the Diaz fight were very good and Diaz is one of the easiest fighters to game plan for in MMA. And his game plan for the first Diaz fight was atrocious.

He's definitely a mental warfare genius, but as has been said Floyd doesn't seem the least bit bothered by his antics lol.
