The sunglasses thread The sunglasses thread

Need a pair of sunglasses as the summer is approaching. I'm 19 if it matters and I'm not looking for any form of aviators and a black frame is preferable. Any help would be appreciated : ) willing to spend up to 150$ and have already looked at the ones previously posted, something along the lines of the Ray-Ban Wayfarer is basically what I'm looking for.

Ray-Ban Wayfarers.

Any opinion on Oakley Frogskins (black)? I'm not sure whether I'll look like an old man with the Wayfarer's or not, will probably have to go and try them on somewhere.

when I was 16 (19 now) I bought a pair of oakley flak jackets and have been satisfied since... Theyre nothing special but its a sporty frame with no WTF aspects

I am pretty sure it would be easier to find Osama Bin Laden than a pair of non-polarized Ray Ban Warriors that can be guaranteed to be shipped within a week.

So I just got my Warriors finally with the G-15 lenses and gunmetal frame. They are really small. I wasn't expecting something huge but I also didn't think I would look like an asian when I wore these...

Actually they are called King Flys made by Black Fly's. And you are wrong about Bradly wearing them because hes "bombed" on heroin. He was clean when that picture was taken. Ever think people wear sunglasses because of the sun?

hope you lose all your money. Take care.

Anyone who rides a motorcycle and is using cheap sunglasses should check out Wiley X.

I landed on these. Initially I grabbed the Airbornes but they blocked way too much peripheral vision. I wear a full face helmet which naturally limits peripheral so a wide lens is critical.

These were only $90 vs $140 and I can change out the lenses myself. The light-adjusting lenses are supposed to be pretty nice but I just use the sunglass lenses for now.

They're really comfortable and thanks to the foam that wraps around the frame where it meets your eyes wind, dust, bugs, etc. are prevented from entering your eyes. The wind doesn't become a problem until about 95mph(actual, which is about 110 indicated on most bikes) so they do their job pretty damn well.

On a side note, does anyone else think that polarized lenses are incredibly overrated? I just don't see the big deal.

I just got laser eye surgery so I'll need to wear sunglasses for the rest of my life (always wore UV protective contacts). Is there really a discernible difference other than sheer ballerness between high end sunglasses and $40 sunglasses? I'm thinking of getting these Fossil ones and they have 100% UVA/UVB protection so what am I missing here?

bah the pic on the fossil site can't be saved or hotlinked.

They're using a spacer.gif on the site. Go to "view page info" in your browser and you can find the direct link...

sba,

Thanks for the heads up. Those weren't the glasses I wanted to show though. Here is the actual pair that I tried to post:

I have a seven year old pair of Bolles that I got when I was working on a ski resort. I mostly like that they have special alpine lenses (am I the only person who gets way more excited by the technology than the style?) and fit snugly without feeling tight.

I've had other sunglasses since, but these just keep on trucking and keep being my favourite.

Alright, anyone who has seen "Drive", knows that Ryan Gosling is pretty much the man in it(if you havnt seen it, do it). The sunglasses that he wears in the movie are pretty much the nuts. Unfortunately, the fact that they cost $385 and are currently sold out on the companies website means I cant get them. Anyone know anything similar for a bit lower price range?
