Re: Ski/Snowboard talk/pics/whatever thread
Ok so after skiing like 4 times in the past couple weeks for the first time in two years I need to go buy a pair of skis. Im looking for an all mountain type as i live out east currently but plan on going out west a decent amount also. Im really short (5'5) so im looking for something in the 155-160cm size. If anyone has any recommendations that would be sweet. My goal was to keep the skis and bindings under 700, but price isnt that big of an issue. Thanks

apparently the judges didn't like it too much, cause i got screwed on my score. my coach was kinda bummed that i didn't do better with the judges. who knows, maybe i bobbled something or did a grab twice or whatever the ****. but i'm on life tilt right now. and the weather is so, so ****ty. pouring icy rain all day, it hurt your face to ride and i'm still soaking wet.

pfff yeah the judges HATE when i throw a cab 5...oh wait no i can't do that. Pretty sick bro, regardless of what the judges thought.

Re: Ski/Snowboard talk/pics/whatever thread
Ok, I am thinking about getting these skis I am on the intermediate side for sure and dont plan on doing too much off freeride skiing in the near future. I am basically looking for something to last a season or two. I plan on just going to someplace in Boston or some mountain to find boots, if anyone had any recommendations that would be great

Very bad weather with more and more snowfalls. 30 to 60 cm are awaited at 2500 m.

Inner Bootworks at Stowe is my favorite boot shop, but I doubt it's worth the drive up there to just buy boots. but if you feel like going away for the weekend anytime soon to go skiing, head up there.
re: ski's, I don't think it matter nearly as much as boots, and have little problem buying them sight unseen/untried. I've bought my last couple from Sierra Trading Post. you can find coupons online and get some sweet deals.
like http://www.sierratradingpost.com/p/3...-Bindings.html these. find a coupon, and they're yours for $450 ish. you can probably do better even.
edit: the ones you linked to are fine as well. but I don't think you should plan on buying skiis for just a season or 2. especially if you don't ski that much, you can get 4-5, or more, seasons out of a good pair of skis (it's really about "days skiied" not "age"). I think it's better to spend $50 more on something you'll grow into (like the Rossi b78's) instead of something ok for now (b74's)

Re: Ski/Snowboard talk/pics/whatever thread
last week TeeJay, Sponger, thatpfunk, and I hit Whistler and we had a blast. On the last day we rented a heli and hit the backcountry, the powder was sick. I'll post pics later but right now I'm scarfing down breakfast before hitting Baldface ( www.baldface.net) for the week, anyone been there? Will TR when I get back.

Failed Mission
Got to the trailhead (9800ft) at about 4am today. We skinned up 4.5 miles to 12,500' and saw our goal:
1.5 miles away and 1,500' vertical left.
So many sick looking lines but we wanted the classic Dead Dog couloir, the one off the right side of the summit. And then my buddy said he was done. He didn't have anything left. Dissapointing but the high winds and hurting knee lessened the blow. Next time we will camp around where we turned back and make it a 2 day approach, or not be out of shape weekend warriors.

Re: Ski/Snowboard talk/pics/whatever thread
Spent two days on the mountain this weekend and developed a nice goggle-shaped sunburn.
Anyone 6' tall and ride a 58? I'm wondering how wide my stance should be... I have my bindings at +9/-9 and go down the mountain reg/switch.. but I looked at some pictures my GF took and in most of them I look like I'm standing straight up. In one picture it appears like my knees are pointing in. Could that be bad? I felt fine going down and only fell a few times.. each time trying to switch edges (I'm solid on my heel side but sketchy on my toe side)
