Anyone here go to 7 Springs? 80$ for a lift ticket during the holiday's, which is when schools out, and 75 on the weekends. Killington is only 5$ more.

Never heard of it, but just looked it up. That's a hefty price tag for such a small mountain. It's hard paying that much at the bigger places....

I just got back from Stratton. Paid too much for not too many trails and pretty weak conditions. I will say that considering last week's weather, they've done a really good job. Morning was a firm corduroy, but decent. However, by 2pm it was just a sheet of ice on many of the trails. The kind of thing where people fall and just slide for an extra 20 feet.

We need snow

Are there any good websites/Apps that give snow reports for many resorts? I'm mostly interested in Northeastern US

you'll be disappointed with the skiing in finland. it's all tiny. norway and sweden actually have mountains.

There's plenty of ez terrain to get your bearings back. I had a 5 year hiatus when my board was stolen and I was broke. You'll get it back. Hopefully we'll get some good snow too!

JH had a bunch of snow the week before I went and then got 16 inches on the mountain the night we got there. It was great. Didn't have a beacon or other gear and guy I was with wasn't the strongest skier so we opted out of backcountry. A guy got killed in an avalanche on Pucker face the day we left. I was talking about hitting that peak if we went outside the resort at all.

Snow/rain line at 2000m for the last few days in french alps Gonna have to drive to the glaciers to get fresh snow lol, anyone know if Val Thorens has good off-piste possibilities ?

@mouthtoilet Yes I was there, went around the resort sharpish!

@Dr.FatCat - Not really enough snow and where there is the ava risk is high. They didn't get the base they really needed this year so the off piste is dodgy. Not saying it isn't there but I'd recommend taking a guide to find the good/safe stuff!

I'm heading there in a couple weeks as well. What is bad about whistler this year? I would have assumed there would be a few of our olympians training there and that it would be better?

well my buddies posted pics of their stoke a few days ago...except they were on their downhill bikes.
just one of the worst seasons in decades.

olympic training doesnt require good snow. shaun white was down here in australia a few months ago riding a pipe with grass surrounding it.

anyway im off to japan tomorrow.

May is kinda late for most Scandinavian resorts, but Riksgrensen is good and should have plenty of snow in May. Fairly small resorts, with cool terrain and loads of hikeable back country.

Lofoten has no resorts, but plenty of spectacular nature and cool back country trips, a guide is highly recommended. Prime season from mid March to late May.

cheers.
Not really interested in riding resort but Riksgrensen looks great.
Where was that picture taken?

The pic is from Lofoten and pretty representative for the terrain there; runs of up to a 1000 vertical meters, that end up at the bottom of the fjords, with stunning views a long the way. A lot of the runs are organized so that you get picked up by boat when you get down to the fjords. The combination of the terrain, midnight sun and the scenery provides for a pretty unique experience.

Sick pic lurelore.

Too bad about Whistler being the worst in years. I have a stupid question about the downhill bikes. Is there some part of the mountain where people still bike?

That's gross. I will be going there on a weekday. The first 2 hours are good at most mountains. Lake Louise, Sunshine get busy from noon-2ish and mostly dies out by the end of the day. The problem is that there's so many people in that 2 hours the mountain turns to ice and carving sucks.

thanks loldonkamentz. Went to Avoriaz to ride park instead and turns out there was some decent powder today so had some good fun. No snow forecasted for almost 2 weeks now though

Man that whistler pic sucks, I was thinking of doing a snowboard season there before but everyone's telling me there's massive queues and powder gets destroyed in seconds so guess I'll just do a mountain biking season there instead ^^
