In DEN airport waiting to hop on a little 12 seater into Telluride. Heard the snow s been awful. 30in base. Exposed dirt and rock s in the trees. It did dump 12 in last night with another 5 due today so hopefully that keeps up. If worse comes to worse I'll just have to rent a car and drive out to Wolf Creek for a da y or two.

In selva val gardena. Arrived on Saturday and first day good snow and blue sky. Scenery is unreal though the resort is a bit quiet and an older crowd. This afternoon I tackled saslong b which is the supposed easier slope next to the downhill run. Presumably it's easier in the morning when less cut up but god this was hard. I have no clue how this was a red! Also I caught an edge near the start l a black and fell backwards about 70 odd metres. Some kind person brought my lost pole along! Might try saslong in the morning so less tired when hurtling down verticals lol

Anyone been to Avoriaz/Morzine and done the Valee de la Manche? How avalanchy is it? We have transceivers shovels etc and have a lot of experience on back country, but avalanche risk is 4 atm. Only got two days though and really want to do it.

Hey guys, My girlfriend and i are looking to spend most of next season in Whistler and im trying to organize accommodation. Looking for a short term rental from November 2013 - March 2014. We are looking to buy a car on arrival so we dont need something right in the village (although this would obv be awesome) but just anything within say 20mins drive to the hill.

Not even sure if this is going to be possible to organize from here (Australia) since most vendors would most likely want to see us in person before giving us a lease or whatever.

Any general info on good places/areas to stay and/or how to go about securing a short term lease without being scammed would be much appreciated.

if you have a car then you dont need to live in the village. everywhere in whistler is within 20 min drive to lifts. i like living in brio, white gold, cay heights or creekside. creekside is cheapest.

you're right with it being difficult to organise in australia unless you go with a seasonaires company but theyre a ripoff. i did it my first year. just do it when you get there. try and get there early november late october and you will have no problem finding a place. craigslist or the pique for ads.
hard to get scammed irl.

have fun.

Yeah spoke to a local with whom I have a mutual friend and he said the conditions were still pretty dodgy so gave it a miss. Managed to find some pretty awesome tree lines today, untracked most of the way, and also did some bigger cliff drops than I've ever done before which was sick but really sketchy. Going home tomorrow though , going to try and get out to Monterosa Italy maybe in March.

Snowpack is at 50% of normal but the 12 in will help and more is on the way. You should have a great week. Let us know how it is. Enjoy!

Was the snow still good ? I went to ride in Avoriaz yesterday but the powder got really heavy and sticky (too warm) so decided to just ride park instead.

Yeah I've just got back. The snow was real good on Tuesday, but yeah was hideously sticky when I skiied Wednesday morning The tree lines in Lindarets even literally right next to the lifts are really sick too.
Overall I think I'd go back to Avoriaz/Morzine area last minute if there was a big dump, but just think the low alititude is too much of a risk to book to go there in advcance really.

done with my time in hakuba. snow quality was a bit disappointing. only got a few decent powder days but discovered and have fallen in love with splitboarding while there.

im off to nozawa onsen for the next 30 days. this is one of my favorite places.

Didn't stop snowing for five straight days after I got here. New terrain was opening up every day. Dumped a solid 3 feet before that storm ran its course. Also, I gotta say Telluride is one cool ass town if you're ever looking for a change from the I70 resorts. Lots of granola, good bar scene, and no lift lines even when there's 10in of fresh powder. Sorry I don't have any pics to share. Was too busy riding hard and growing icicles off my beard.
