I would check out mammoth! Theyhave the most snow this year! I went out there in April last year and it was sick! Should be even better in feb. Or march. The town is fun too!

Thanks for the suggestion that sounds like a good option. I assume it shouldnt be too hard to find a dooby brother there either.

Nice edit. I'm going to Breck in a few weeks and have decided I must get a GoPro.

Anyone have experience mounting a GoPro on a board? Seems like the suction mount would work, but on their site they don't recommended it for snowboards.

My friend said that he tried to mount his on the snowboard and it kept losing suction. Also if you take a nasty spill you could kill the camera probably if it was mounted on your board.

Yeah the contour seems more versatile, but I just went ahead and ordered the GoPro 960. Seems like a good deal for $180.

Contour HD ftw. Mounting a camera on your board sounds stupid/pointless.

First year skiing and im using all my friends old gear(skis/boots/poles) i dont think the skis and poles really make a huge difference since were very lucky to be somewhere over 350 feet vertical elevation(minnesota lol), but the outside of my shins(opposite side of my calves) is always hurting after a day in the terrain park. should i be looking for a new pair and if so any suggestions, or is there some sort of exercise that can remedy this? mostly all i do is hit boxes and 360s aorn but im close to getting a 720 and really wanna do flips

im also considering getting a helmet soon so i can start learning backflips and more how recommended would this be?

and fwiw im moving to missoula montana this summer so next winter my hill will be about 10x bigger so i plan between now and then to get new skis(year or 2 old) boots and maybe poles

I'm wearing a helmet this year for the first time ever and would highly recommend it for anyone who skis or snowboards.

I don't even go off any jumps but I imagine if I did, I'd have my helmet on.

Yeah a good helmet is important. Most of the time, true you won't need it, but that's not why you're wearing it. You're wearing it for that one time you do need it, and trust me, when that happens, you'll be reaaally happy you got one.

I wear this one fwiw.

I bought my helmet at a snowboard show and must have tried on about 50 before any felt comfortable at all. When I did find one that was comfortable it was a perfect fit. Bern's Baker model.

Fits perfectly and super light. Also got a set of skullcandy soundpads for it. Use a Scott Back Protector for my back.

Picked up a pair of Nike Zoom Kaiju's today! So stoked to try them out this weekend.

ya helmet is 85% protection 15% comfort, style is very unimportant

im actually much more scared of rails and boxes aorn because i view them as so much harder than snow. i think a helmet would remedy that(i dont care about hurting any other parts of me other than spine)

also thanks for the advice, 2+2 is great for learning/improving at a hobby

nice thing is you can get a cool-looking, comfortable helmet that offers very good protection! it doesn't have to be one or the other.

rails and boxes are harder than snow, you're not the only one with this view.

if you're worried about hurting your spine, there are spine/back protectors you can buy.

you're welcome.

How much would movement be affected by a spine protector. Its probably not something id really want unless it was completely unnoticeable.

If you get a good one and right size it shouldnt affect movement at all.

Tested the Nike Zoom Kaiju's today and wtfffffff its beyond nuts. Haven't even heat molded them and they fit perfect without any pressure points at all.

I've been having problems with some bad foot cramping while boarding. Sometimes it gets so bad that I have to quit for the day or I even have to rest half way down the mountain. Any tips/thoughts on this? I've been drinking tons of fluids, so it's not that. It's very frustrating tho to drive an hour or two and then have to quit for this ****.

where exactly are you cramping?

cranking down too hard on your bindings and/or boots?
Ski/Snowboard talk/pics/whatever thread Quote
01-23-2011 , 02:41 AM
Yea, the biggest reason for that happening is that you tighten boots or bindings to hard and blood doesn't flow optimally. Other reason might be ****** boots or straps on the bindings.

First hit on google:
What causes muscle cramps?

The pain comes from the ball of my foot right behind my toes. I'll try some stuff from that article....like eat some bananas and what not. I've also read that it could be a technique thing where I'm putting too much stress on my toes when riding, but I'm not quite sure how to fix that. I was just wondering if anybody had some personal experience wit dis herrrr.
