I've never been, but want to plan a trip out there in the next year or so. We were talking about setting up a trip out there next year, if we do I'll go with the epic pass.

Just had an amazing day of nothing but powder at Squaw.

We've gotten about 4 feet this week, with at least 3-4 more feet on the way over the weekend.

Chest-deep all fkn day. Unreal.

Yep, Squaw has been awesome all week, almost nonstop snow since monday. 4-6 inches an hour at times.

Not going early today since just got a report that traffic to squaw is backed up from both tahoe city and truckee lololol and upper mountain is still on standby.

Since I love deck pics:

Looking out my front window, KT in the background. Eagles nest at the top, though its hard to tell from the pic.

Keep wondering how this doesn't fall over:

Hahaha no ****! I live in tahoe city and i had to go to work today.

It took me an hour to get from TC to Squaw. I left at 745 and didn't get here till 845. Traffic was stop and go from Alpine all the way up to the village. They closed down some of the squaw valley road to clear snow. insanity.

No riding for me today, just hanging on the computer at work doing nothing

Damn I miss Squaw. Worked there 05/06 season, still my favorite mountain even though I've been all over. I was pretty decent before that season, but after spending one winter there it took my skiing to a whole other level. It was impossible not to, so many sick skiers/boarders there to inspire/teach you.

Kind of funny I was actually watching the High Camp ubercam right before I looked at this thread. Looks nasty up there. I'll be in Tahoe in March for a week. Can't f'in wait.

By the way, that one Eagle's Nest shot with McConkey hugging the wall is one of my favorite ski images ever. When you first look at it, you think "that has to be somewhere in Alaska", but nope, it's available for anyone to hit right there at good ol' Squaw.

Oh and by the way again, it's not called Eagle's Nest anymore. It was renamed McConkey's.

"In honor of fallen legend Shane McConkey, Squaw Valley renamed the infamous run on top of KT-22, “McConkey’s.” The dedication ceremony took place on Saturday October 3, 2009. On a chilly fall day, a group of around 100 friends and family including; Shane’s father Jim, his mother Glenn and wife and daughter Sherry and Ayla McConkey made the hike from the base of KT-22 to the top. The group then assembled on the narrow peak where Sherry and Scott Gaffney poured a box of Shane’s ashes into the wind. The crowd cheered. On top of the line a memorial eagle was built by Hansi Standteiner. The eagle paid homage to McConkey’s love of flight and his love of skiing rowdy lines. Inspiration was also drawn from the iconic photo on the cover of “Immersion.” On the days proceeding the ceremony Sherry McConkey hiked the peak several times, and on each of those times she was followed by a golden eagle, circling above her. “McConkey’s” has long been considered a classic Squaw line and was the line McConkey was skiing on Powder magazine’s tribute issue cover."

Short article talking about the renaming with a nice pic of it.

"Oh I could hit that easily" you say...Well, here's another angle. Looks alil rowdier no?

heh-its just habit to call it eagles nest.

<3 Shane, first year I lived in a ski town Walls of Freedom played non stop. By far biggest and best influence on skiing imo.

Lol memory- Shane yelling "just fing hit it man" from KT chair while my friend is standing on top of a fingers line for way too long.

If you guys are bored or anything, I'm part of the USC ski+snowboard team. Our captain makes some sick video edits of our riding...I think they're sweet but I'm biased: http://www.youtube.com/user/abekislevitz

Heading up to Mammoth this weekend, anybody gonna be there?

Can't argue with the ridiculously small comment, after living in Bozeman for 3+ years, then having to come back to MN, but if you're looking for good riding in the UP/Wisconsin, quit going to Granite Peak. Whitecap Mountains west of Ironwood is a lot cheaper, and has some decent double black runs when there's snow (which is a lot more often than you'd think, lake effect rocks!) But if you can get the time, as it's a bit more of a drive, go to Mt Bohemia in lac LaBelle, MI (North of Houghton, at the tip of the Keweenaw penninsula) All expert terrain, Decent vertical, and a ton of snow. It's kept me sane for the past 7 years since I've last been able to get out west.

This is all assuming you would like a more mountain like experience. If you're just into groomers and terrain parks, disregard the above paragraph and stay at G.P.

i´ve been riding them for four years now. i love them to death. they used to be total pieces of crap, make no mistake, but their bindings are awesome now. feels like a big slipper and no weird pressure points. i´ve got the boards, boots and bindings but i get a deal on it all so i have to use the whole system anyway but i have no complaints (and im not just saying that cause im supposed to)

I had a gift card from xmas for $40 at zoomies, so I went down to pick up some snowboard vids, ended up with 3 snowboard vids, and 1 skate vid. The tightest one, by far, was "forever forum".

Any suggestions for the next time I stock up

"That's It, That's All" is one of the sickest movies I've ever seen. I'd definitely recommend checking that out. I just ordered the Blu-ray version from Amazon on sale.

14in of fresh fluffy powder at Las Vegas Ski yesterday. There's actually some good tree skiing to be had up there. I'm having more fun in the park too now that I've learned how to rail slide and land 360's thanks to a guy who was cool enough to teach me a few weeks ago after I watched him throw some sick tricks and was like "hey he could probably teach me how to do that".

And yeah, That's It That's All is the best snowboard movie ever. Don't bother buying anything else, haha.
